Re: Coronabollocks..
COVID 19 reached out and infected me about a month ago. Vector was Sproglette junior. Immediately went into isolation. Symptoms: mostly as advertised; difficulty breathing, low grade fever, achy all over, headache. Loss of libido.
Hospitalisation offered and rejected.
At the end of isolation period still felt pretty **** with all symptoms continuing in one form or another. Weight loss nearly 10 kg. Food big problem still, tastes awful makes me gag.
In the last few days, things improving slowly but not on the libido front. Managed a 300 metres walk with the Black Bitch today.

D #2 has been unwell for almost a month now. Coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, fatigue, etc.
Twice tested negative for covid, even after to close contact exposure. Also negative for mono, strep, valley fever, and negative results of chest x-ray for pneumonia.
Tests showed no antibodies for covid but positive for presence of vaccine markers.
One last test showed previous evidence of exposure to the bacteria which causes walking pneumonia.
WebMD shows that all of her symptoms are the lingering results of WP.
Pulmonologist had given her antibiotics which would have been prescribed if the walking pneumonia had been diagnosed at the time.
Now, hopefully, just a matter of time before she is back to normal.

Re: Coronabollocks..
It's not just covid shots.
Flu shots uptake is now partisan. It didn't use to be.
https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/14/politics ... index.html
(CNN)Uptake of the Covid-19 vaccine has, unfortunately, become partisan like so much else in our society. Almost every Democratic adult (90% to 95%) has gotten a shot, while a little less than two-thirds of Republican adults have.
That partisanship appears to have transferred to at least one other important vaccination. An examination of flu shot data suggests that which party people belong to is highly correlated with whether they have or will get a flu shot this season -- something that was not predictive of flu shot uptake the last few years.
Take a look at two recent polls that have asked about whether or not people have gotten the flu shot: Axios/Ipsos and Kaiser Family Foundation. By assessing two polls instead of one, we know what we're seeing is a real phenomenon and not statistical noise.
According to the Ipsos data, 68% of Democrats said they have gotten a flu shot or are very likely to get one. Just 44% of Republicans said the same. This 24-point gap is very similar to the 30-point gap for Covid-19 vaccines.
The Kaiser poll shows basically the same thing. A clear majority (65%) of Democrats indicated that they had received or will definitely receive the flu shot. Just 40% of Republicans indicated they would. The 25-point partisan gap in this data is a near carbon copy of the 24-point gap in the Ipsos poll.
Now compare this data to what we saw in past years -- specifically, in the years before the Covid-19 pandemic took its hold.
An AP-NORC poll in February 2020 asked adults whether they had received a flu shot in the last 12 months. In this poll, 58% of Democrats said they had compared to 54% of Republicans. This 4-point gap is well within any margin of error.
A Princeton Survey Research Associates International from the second half of 2016 queried adults about whether they had gotten a flu shot in the past year. This poll looked nearly identical to the 2020 poll with 55% of Democrats and 53% of Republicans saying they had gotten a flu shot in the last 12 months.
In other words, there was no partisan gap.
If you look at the data, the partisan gap in the flu vaccine data for this year is appearing because of two phenomena. The first is that Democrats appear to be more likely to have received or will receive the shot than in past years. The second is that Republicans appear to be less likely to have done so.
It seems plausible that the push to get the Covid-19 vaccine has led to more Democrats getting the flu shot, while it has had the opposite effect on Republicans.
Indeed, Americans who have gotten a Covid-19 vaccine are far more likely to have received a flu shot. Just 17% of those who have not gotten a Covid-19 vaccine say they have or will likely get a flu shot in the Ipsos poll. This jumps to 64% among those who have received a Covid-19 vaccine.
The good news is that most adults (81%) have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. Still, only a portion of that group has gotten or will get the flu vaccine.
If you combine the percentage of Americans who say they have gotten or will definitely (or will very likely get in the Ipsos poll wording), about half the country will get a flu vaccine this year. This does not look to be significantly different than in past years.
That is, the rise in Democrats getting the flu vaccine this year looks like it will be canceled out by fewer Republicans getting it.
Of course, we're examining only the flu shot in one season. We don't know whether there will be a continued partisan split on who gets the flu shot in future years. We also don't know whether other life saving vaccinations will see a similar partisan split going forward.
Hopefully, partisanship on vaccines is just a passing trend.

Re: Coronabollocks..
You are correct PHX.
Everything seems to have become political- even things that were not considered so before.
The middle ground has been abandoned and folks' opinions are indeed polarised.
It's quite bad.
I can think of Brexit, Covid, Global warming, Immigration, Trump etc.
The risk is that someone, The Chinks or Putin maybe, may try to exploit such division.

Re: Coronabollocks..
Yesterday's superb lunch at Anna and Marga's restaurant, with very good friends, included an amusing game of "who-infected-who with CV in February 2020". Three against one was the final score, but hostlities were everted by blaming the frightful conman chancer rapscallion Mark N., who tried to buy our villa (Ops Normal passim) for bringing it from Elsewhere to this part of the world. There's fun every where if you have the time to look for it!

Flying back from CPT tonight, ‘twas great to be back after so long, everything seems to be working in the apartment, hopefully back in the New Year unless dickhead Boris and crew come up with yet another ridiculous reason for not allowing travel.
When all else fails, read the instructions.
Re: Coronabollocks..
We have noticed a certain smugness from the supporters of Jacuzzi Hardon of late, unfortunately I can never understand what she says, possibly because of the teeth, here is an extract from the Telegraph today
In May last year, Jacinda Ardern, New Zealand’s youngest Prime Minister, also became its most popular since records began.
The phenomenon of ‘Jacindamania’ swept through the island nation as she won worldwide praise for the decisive action that had restricted the country’s Covid-related deaths to just 26.
But the war against coronavirus is far from over, and there are growing signs that the 41-year-old Labour Party leader’s strategy of closing her country’s borders is unravelling.
The wildly infectious delta variant of Covid has found its way into Auckland, and is spreading faster than the government can track it, despite a fresh lockdown. Fifty new cases were reported over the weekend and another 31 on Monday October 4 according to New Zealand’s Ministry of Health, bringing the total number to 287 – including a newborn baby. The lockdown restrictions were expanded to the area south of New Zealand’s largest city after the emergence of unlinked cases in the Waikato region.
Ardern’s failure to vaccinate the Kiwi population, of whom 80 per cent remain unprotected, has made the country the perfect host for delta, with no background immunity through exposure to Covid. She threw a belt around her country, but did not bother with the braces.
Only now is she abandoning her “elimination” strategy in favour of a three-stage roadmap that takes into account vaccination rates.
There is speculation in scientific circles that New Zealand could experience similar levels of deaths to other countries as it goes through a delayed health disaster.

Is anyone in their secure and safe homeland noting what's going on in other countries, such as Germany? Just under 53,000 new infections yesteday. Merkel said "it's not too late to get your first vaccination." Well OK Tante Merkel, if you say so...

There is no such thing as a risk free ride when it comes to vaccines, or, indeed drugs, potions, or snake oil of any sort... (or indeed in life itself)...
I saw a poor nurse convulse, go into anaphalactic shock and nearly die after an intravenous shot of antibiotic after her cat scratched her. Get over it people, life is risky, but the Covid vaccine(s) is/are a better risk trade than anything else on offer at the moment.
Whatever the case, your own specific doom awaits you!

Cathay Pacific fires three pilots who caught Covid-19 in Germany
https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/18/business ... index.html
(CNN Business)Cathay Pacific has fired three pilots after they were infected with coronavirus in the German city of Frankfurt.
The Hong Kong airline said in a statement that an internal investigation had found that the pilots were involved in a "serious breach" of Covid-19 procedures during "overseas layovers."
Other Cathay staff who have stayed at the same hotel in Frankfurt since November 1 have been ordered into a Hong Kong government quarantine.
"After investigation into these cases, regrettably, the findings indicate a serious breach of requirements during crew overseas layovers," the statement said. "The individuals concerned are no longer employed by Cathay Pacific," the statement said.
Cathay did not provide detailed descriptions of what the "serious breach" entailed.
The airline said it was continuing to review company protocols in the wake of the incident.
"The safety and well being of our customers, employees and the community remain our absolute priority," it said.
'Deeply regretful'
Cathay Pacific insisted the incident was "isolated."
"Our aircrew have been keeping our business operating and Hong Kong connected to the world throughout the pandemic," it said.
Hong Kong expats are up in arms about quarantine. Singapore stands to gain
"The professionalism, compliance and resilience of all our employees in upholding safe operations throughout this period has been exceptional and we believe these cases are isolated incidents."
Hong Kong's Transport and Housing Bureau described the breach as "deeply regretful."
In a statement, the government body urged airlines to "strictly comply with the anti-epidemic regulatory requirements to prevent further incidents.
