I'm not fatalistic at all, just saying that Nature has a part to play, as do we.
One of us will prevail, and my money's on Nature.
It's fascinating. There's always a mindset that is comforted by the 'motion to do nothing.'

And then there's those who prefer to be proactive.
JJ, the proactive may indeed delay getting ill. They very few proactive will even develop a viable vaccine, but nature will get there too.

Nature has already spared many and killed a few. Nature, the virus, may mutate faster than man can respond. That requires fatalism rather than despair but does not equate to nothing.

PN breathing delays our dying due to asphyxiation and ultimately we will stop breathing and die or die and stop breathing. I am of the school that favours the expedient of delaying the inevitable by keeping breathing for as long as possible and it is this will to action that makes us part of the quick and not the dead. Doing nothing is not an option! ;)))

How does TfL reduce the risk due to overcrowding for Tube passengers?

Well, first they close some stations - and some lines - and then they run fewer trains on the remaining lines.

Yes - that'll work!

Off-licences have been added to the government's list of essential UK retailers allowed to stay open during the coronavirus pandemic.
The list was updated on Wednesday amid increasing reports supermarkets are selling out of some beers and wines.
What a relief :-bd

I guess who would have omitted off-licence from the list of essential stores.

Though, I thought that super-markets do sell beer and wines. Is there something I don't see?

So, if we change our behaviour that means the virus has won, right?

No, we change our behavior to defeat the virus. Any way you look at it today, that adaptability is our strength. I'm not certain, but fairly confident, this health and medical challenge will be conquered before too long, maybe six months. The economic aftermath may take longer.

I'm inclined to agree with the six months, definitely not the 15 days that Trump seems to have pinned his hopes on. If we're lucky, the claims that warmer weather will clobber it might come true, although I have my doubts on that one without a bit more rigorous testing. That also doesn't help places that don't get warm enough.

But our local district council, while permitting pubs to provide a take away food service forbid them selling alcohol unless they have an off licence. Means lots of good draught beer going off.

I suppose they could give it away, no VAT to pay. Provide clean 5l containers,£10 a go. Years ago our local brewer had a cancelled order from Italy. Two options: pour it down the drain and have the Environment Agency round their necks or give it to the local RAF Station to filter it. Hard work but I did my bit.

Easy! Our UK health minister was seen by millions on TV saying that whilst washing our (own) hands with soap and water “the hot water will kill the virus”.
So that’s all right then, maximum hand-tolerant temperature water will destroy Covid-19. It must be true ‘cos a UK Govt minister said so.
