It looks like Bots is going to be given some vaccines from China to supplement whatever we get from COVAX. At the start of the pandemic China donated supplies of PPE to Bots and has sent medical staff to help out too. So I guess they are being successful at currying favour down here.........

Mrs Ex-A, based on what happened with our China PPE, I guess your supplies may not be checked and rejected as ours are. I wonder if they are really substandard here.

Have you noticed how often you see pictures on the media and wince at what they are doing?

Australian nurses (I guess nurses) getting the first jabs. Administrator wearing gloves but lifting patient's sleeve. The patient was another nurse and well able to bare her arm. None wore masks.

In contrast I often see quite ordinary people wearing masks when clearly no need. Farmer driving back from shops. Football manager, alone in the box.

On a lighter note, a new topic of conversation on the rare occasion you meet someone on the dog walk " Have you had the jab yet?"

"Yes, in January."

Sort of overlooks the disparity in EU v UK populations. That EU is doing much better than 133 countries in the World with no vaccines; how crass.
Then without checking the fine print, if UK has 600,000 with 2 jabs and Italy has twice as many, that am true. But how many in Italy have had the first jab? Rather fewer than the 18 million in UK.

Going back to my reference to Ursula above. Four days ago over 25% in UK had had just one does. The figure for Italy, was 5.9% which presumably includes a small number awaiting a second dose.

Beijing denies using anal swabs to test US diplomats for virus
China has denied subjecting US diplomats to “undignified” anal swab tests for Covid-19, after complaints about the intrusive procedure.

State Department has told staff stationed in China to refuse the tests, which it said should never have been carried out and claimed Beijing told them the “undignified” tests were done “in error”.

China denied forcing the diplomats to have the anal swabs.

Maybe not taking a swab to check for bugs butt inserting bugs.

My next door neighbour who has had both doses of the vaccine, received a letter this morning telling him to shield for at least another three months - it's the first time he's received a shielding letter although he was expecting the letter first time round. He can go for a walk but mustn't go into shops, pharmacies etc. He and his wife said how last night's press briefing had really scared them with its tone and message. I too thought that Hancock's and JVT's message was a bit too strong although it may have been aimed at certain sectors of the community, in which case they should have said so.

4ma, I strongly suspect left and right hand. In theory, after the 1st 21 days his immune response will have been increasing and by the second between at least 70% and maybe nearer 90%.

I spoke with both my GP and my cancer nurse when I got my first letter. Neither had been consulted about me, or indeed anyone. The letters are sent out by a bot.

Tell him that instead of quaking in fear, call his GP for a proper opinion.

I"m on the shielding list and have been receiving letters since May last year my latest one says to shield until the end of March, I will get further advise in mid March. I have a couple of friends who get the same letters and none are beyond the end of March yet. I am sure the Government are worried that the Covidiots will blow it over the next three months or so and the rates will rise again and it wouldn't surprise me whatsoever. Last September my area was one of the lowest in the country the Govt. decided to allow the caravan parks to stay open and all the contaminated city bods headed for the coast and by November we were one of the highest groups in the country. Most people around here are worried that it will happen again. I wouldn't be surprised if I receive a letter next month saying shield for a further three months..

I'm clearly missing something here. Last I heard he was going to be back on the 4th March because that's the day that real presidents get inaugurated.
