Is a 55 year old Prime Minister's life more valuable/important than any other?
During WWII in my hometown of Redcar, the local Borough Council had a full council meeting every month in the evening, and after the meeting most of the attendee's would adjourn to a Club for a drink or two. The club was directly over the road from the Municipal Buildings.

The attendee's of the meeting included such officials as the Town Clerk, Borough Engineer and Medical Officer for Health et al.

One night after the monthly meeting, the club was hit by a stray German bomb. There were numerous fatalities, of aldermen, councilors and officials, I don't have the casualty list in my hands, but I do remember being told that it was a major problem for the running of the town for many months.

So yes, some people are definitely more valuable to a society than others.

Yes, no problem entering the UK, though whether that is a good policy is another matter.
Just been out for my evening walk. Streets utterly empty.

Downing Street has made clear that Boris Johnson is still conscious

One really must suppress a giggle, but ....

The so called 'Land of the Free' (but not free medical care) never ceases to amaze me... first you have Trump's hydroxychloroquine snake oil, and now you have incidents like this...
A man fatally shot his girlfriend and then himself after he suspected she had contracted Covid-19.

Patrick Jesernik, from Illinois, and his partner Cheryl Schriefer, who had lived together for eight years, were found dead in their residence on Thursday.
Neither party had the virus...

I wonder how the national murder rate over the period covering the Corona lock down will compare with the death rate due to this virus...

Yeah but that's just what the Russians (and the Chinese) would say, wouldn't they...

The Russians did send a small number of doctors to Italy and China has been reselling aid donated by the EU (including Italy) back to the EU. With friends like these, as they say...

It is more than just them stating that fact of aid given,, but of course there would always be those who would "Yeah but that's just what the Russians (and the Chinese) would say, wouldn't they..."

How funny was it watching Trump call out the Chinese propaganda plant in his Task Force Briefing today-subsequent investigations and reporting is that her "Hong Kong"company is owned by the Peoples Party.

You do know that RT is the outlet formerly known as Russia Today?

It doesn't stop it being Radio Truth. Al Jazera also has a good reputation. Yes, they both have a different spin on the news. Yes, they can both present news with confirmatory bias. But you would be naive to think our Governments, our broadcasters, and our papers don't spin just as hard. Even Jeff Taylor spins hard with his podcasts albeit un spinning Government spin.

RT and AJ might even give you World news that the Beeb choses to ignore.

Talking of news spin and even news bkackout, basically when something simply stops being NEW, this popped up in my mind yesterday.

All over the news right up to February. Where is she festering now?

Who cares?

RT promotes a steady anti-EU line. I can see why it might be considered Radio Truth by some of those on here.

RT regularly promotes an anti-NATO line. Here we see its antecedents as the propaganda arm of the Soviet state shining through.

I wouldn't say RT is 100% trustworthy, but it often provides a different take or a different viewpoint that's worth hearing.

I don't think any news outlet, gives the whole story, the whole time.

RT has it's own agenda, but so does the BBC.

RT provides some excellent news and documentary coverage and is very slick and professional. It is a propaganda outlet, just more subtle than Radio Moscow in the old days of the cold war when they they to blast out propaganda about the arrogant western capitalist imperialists ............

I would not trust entirely any news medium, particularly when reporting on events within its own sphere of influence. This I would trust RT to a limited extent when reporting on anything that matters related to Russia and the CIS, ex-USSR, etc.

Q "Mr Gove, when did you last speak with the PM"

Acceptable answer might have been 'Thursday'

A "I last spoke with the PM on Thursday but I have spoken to the Cabinet staff, the Foreign Secretary, Tom Connor and all . . . "

of which it is interesting that the Home Sec does seem like the Cheshire Cat, nothing there except a smile. Given that her police forces are front and centre in checking lock down where is she?

“where is she”?
Wisely staying out of view so when some of the more ridiculous enforcement actions by new, inexperienced and badly managed constables are publicised she can claim to have been busy elsewhere watching out for Da’esh terrorists.
That senior civil servant affair dishing the dirt has also probably made her cautious about profile keeping?

"where is she?" - probably at her second home?
