Before 9/11, the lights on the dashboard were blinking red, to quote one report, on the lack of appropriate response by the US authorities to the warnings being flagged up well in advance of that life-changing event.

Now we still hear the warnings of the collateral damage, both already inflicted and still to come from the current ‘Hokey-Pokey’ lockdown measures resulting from the plague measures.

Is there any chance that soon the course chosen by the (UK) leaders will be recognised and altered before the ‘tipping point’ for future lives and livelihoods?!

“Award-winning investigative journalist David Rose wrote a sensational front page story for the Mail yesterday, documenting the scale of the collateral damage to public health caused by the lockdown and the continuing restrictions. Bringing together more than 130 studies, as well as testimony from readers who have contacted him via Lockdown Sceptics, the article documented the impact of this disastrous policy on every sphere of health, including cancer, heart disease, addiction, the welfare of children, domestic violence and mental illness.

Among the revelations are:

Delays in treatment are set to cause a 20% rise in deaths among newly diagnosed cancer patients in England – 6,270 excess deaths this year
Treatment for strokes fell by 45% during lockdown and there were more than 2,000 excess deaths in from heart disease
More than 50,000 operations for children were cancelled
Organ transplants fell by two thirds, with the number of those who died on the transplant waiting list almost doubling
Total waiting lists for routine orthopaedic and eye operations are at record levels
Calls to child abuse helplines rocketed
As rates of depression and anxiety doubled, thousands of recovering alcoholics have relapsed
David lined up an impressive array of experts to comment on these horrendous figures.

Professor Karol Sikora, a cancer specialist and head of Buckingham Medical School, said the findings of the Mail’s audit were a “stunning demonstration of lockdowns’ harmful effects across society”.

He added: “If lockdown were a drug, you’d need to consider the side effects, and yet we’re not – even though we seem to be diving headlong into another one.

“People sometimes claim it’s a question of health versus the economy, but it’s not – it’s health versus health.” Professor Sikora supports last week’s Great Barrington Declaration, now signed by more than 10,700 scientists and 29,700 doctors worldwide, calling on governments to adopt an approach of ‘focused protection’, shielding the vulnerable while opening up the economy.

Sunetra Gupta, one of the Declaration’s authors and an Oxford University epidemiologist, said: “These papers and data are starting to build the evidence to show that the collateral damage has been immense – and will continue with extreme measures such as lockdowns. The time has surely come to take their full costs measures into account.”

Average age of UK Covid-1984 deaths is reported as 82, so W T F...? ~X(

I think 82, the average ages of those killed by Corona, is actually older than the average age of death.

So is it actually a disease?

Edit to add, having checked I am correct.

Average UK life expectancy is 81.16 years.

Average age of dead coronasufferers is 82.2 years.

So catch Covid and live for longer!

Brilliant Mr Kraft. Probably not the same for Spain as life expectancy longer. However our cleaner who came up today and who is a Carer for two or three wrinkleys told us she was in Figures public hospital last week and they have zero (0) Covid cases there. I'm wondering how long the private hospital* we use can stay open. They are not taking non-serious cases (such as my thrombosis) to keep beds free for Covid patients. Sadly none have turned up yet.

“* Pretty nurses, free WiFi, fresh fish for Sunday lunch.”

Sounds like the skeleton of a script for a 21st Century version of “Carry on Nurse” and sod the PC, woke and #Metoo brigasde?

But who out of today’s well known actors and actresses (there, I said that word!) would we cast to play the original characters.

Just a mild diversion from the endless Covid-1984 crap piped into our minds every day! =))

From the title of the OP, will this be the way the Lockdown ends, by a mass revolt of the ‘proles’ who are sick and tired of being pushed around by authoritarian regimes who fail to keep their own rules?

I can only presume that Victoria Derbyshire was threatened with losing her job if she refused to cower and grovel in public?

The UK Plod overtime bill this year will outstrip all that of all other festive seasons unless there is a discreet ‘back off’ instruction from P Patel’s office to the Chief Constables of the various forces.

Then the ‘fuzz’ can return to their computers and look out for ‘hate crimes’ being committed under the guise of “Peace on Earth and Goodwill to all Men”! =))

P S. An exception will be the Viet-Taff Plod who will be out in force watching for illegal purchasers of Tampax and pyjamas for their children sick in hospital. Truly a dystopian nightmare with which to end the second decade of the exciting 21st Century!

How can we tolerate this amidst all the false statistics on "cases" and supposed Covid-1984 deaths, many of which are not proven by the corpse counters?

"How at least nine students have died since UK universities returned last month;

September 25: Police find body of University of Bath student Martin Bowers, 20, in the River Avon, after he went missing six days earlier in Bristol
September 30: Police find body of University of Bath student Alec Unsgaard who had been missing for 12 days after vanishing while out celebrating his 21st birthday
October 3: Jeni Larmour, 18, is found dead at the Richardson Road halls at Newcastle University after allegedly taking ketamine
October 4: A Northumbria University student aged 21, who has not been named, is taken ill at his halls in Newcastle after allegedly taking MDMA and later dies in hospital
October 4: A second Newcastle University student aged 18, who has not been named, is found dead at the Richardson Road halls after also allegedly taking ketamine
October 8: University of Manchester student Finn Kitson, 19, is found dead at the university's Fallowfield halls of residence
October 15: Nottingham Trent University student Hope Starsmore, 20, dies eight days after a car crash in Burgh Le Marsh, Lincolnshire
October 16: Coventry University student aged 20 is found dead in the Bishop Gate halls of residence
October 25: A Bangor University student aged 26 is found dead in a halls of residence."

Is this a 'normal' monthly death rate of uni' students or am I missing something, other than the obvious risks of drugtaking?

Sadly it's just another bunch of students learning about life the hard way.

What are you ascribing the post car-crash death to? Maybe the 32-year old other driver, a woman, who was arrested for driving while unfit to do so - or do you blame the government C19 policies?

boac asks: “ What are you ascribing the post car-crash death to?“
Answer: I dunno. But over 15 months, in the World Heritage Site city of Durham, 3 presumed intoxicated students were taken by the River Wear monster on a night out and understandably so great was the angst that the City Council and the Uni spent >£250,000 on riverside fencing etc to protect other studes from attacks by this beast.
Similar events occurred in York affecting mainly the same of our “brightest & best” with fatal results, and equal publicity given to these tragedies.
But curiously the recent student suicides, of which there have always been examples, don’t seem to have attracted the similar national meeja interest, so is this because it embarrasses the incumbent guvvment as the tragedies could be ascribed to ministerial action?
More publicity was attracted by the 700 signature petition by the Newcastle and N’umbria studes to their Unis to provide them with drug-testing kits so’s they could verify whatever illegal substances they were ingesting were safe so to do!
You couldn’t make this up!
There has been more than adequate reportage of students locked up/down with pathetic notices posted in the windows of their open prisons begging for attention and the implication is the rate of stude self-harm, mental health problems and suicides is likely to result in more Covid collateral damage.
This is in addition to the failure of the National Covid Service to take care of, IAW their remit, the rest of the population with cancer, stroke, heart disease, diabetes etc etc, the stats for which will cause more jaw-dropping when the much delayed “Inquiry” finally reports what a complete bollox the pan(dem)ic mismanagement has turned into.

I was much relieved to find myself, a self-confessed member of the swivel-eyed looney fruitcake set who wished for Brexit and were sceptical and critical of the current plague disastrous reaction by guvvment’s all around the world, agreeing whole-heartedly with this very articulate and experienced former UK Supreme Court ‘beak’.

At 76 minutes long it is not for the faint-hearted or those with a short attention span but was for me a refreshing measured look at he current lockdown madness as applicable in the UK.

Recommended for when you may have the time to concentrate and absorb, much to my surprise he has featured in a number of MSM broadcasts including with our old favourite, Auntie BBC.

Surprisingly he admits there are laws which he would be prepared to break if he considered them to be unjustified or otherwise faulty in the UK context. :YMAPPLAUSE:

The way to end the lockdowns is to make them effective enough to actually bring down the number of infections per 100,000 head of population to single figures.

Right now that number in my two counties which my daily life straddles is 108 and 235. The forecast bed occupancy for NHS Forth Valley indicates a potential shortage of overall beds within 6 weeks and ICU beds within 5 weeks.

We really must end the nonsense of having such a complex plethora of different rules for each county. We need to have a single nationwide policy. By nation, I mean Britain.

We also need more honestly reported data. The death figures are heavily massaged and underdeclare by somewhere between 65% and 75%. If someone dies on the 27th day after their first (not most recent) +ve Covid test they are admitted to the death toll, but someone of dies on the 29th day, or subsequently, they are simply flicked into oblivion by the bureaucrats and those deaths go unreported. This means that the true death toll is somewhere between three and four times greater than the ***** published figures.

Now they are starting to massage the hospital case numbers too. After 14 days in hospital covid patients are deleted from the data. After 28 days they are thrown out of hospital and dumped into a care home to die. That's why the infection rate in care homes is so shockingly high. Care homes simply do not have the same patient separation facilities that hospitals do. One nursing home in West Lothian had 11 deaths in one week this month because of that policy.

From various postings in the O-N forum I detect there are a few overt sceptics of lockdown who have ‘come out’ by dint of their words as printed.

There may be many more who do not wish to risk the contempt and opprobrium which is regularly levelled here at those who are brave/stupid enough to voice their opinions openly.

I will once again post the link to one site which may provide some consolation for the closet ‘Branch Covidians’ out there who may be desperate for an alternative point of view from that of the Establishment but who do not subscribe to any publication, pulp press or online, for news.

The site is updated almost daily but has a calendar by which previous editions may be perused. Browse at your leisure but try not to get too angry/depressed/confused/elated/relieved at the material published therein. The “bedwetters” amongst us will likely attack me for posting this but DILLIGAF when I watch the youngsters’ future being sabotaged in some dystopian real life drama?

Warning! I am now tracking at least 5 BM threads on C19, so I may have missed some vital input. It is getting like dropping a bag of marbles on a hard floor and trying to pick them all up quickly.
there are a few overt sceptics of lockdown
In my case, simply an overt sceptic of scepticism.

I am (obviously) not going to spend hours looking through the BM book of Sceptics, so may I ask a summary?

Do your Branch Sceptics deny that the March lockdown had the effect of dramatically releasing hospital capacity for non-Covid illnesses/conditions within weeks?

Do any of them understand that an 'exponential growth', by definition, becomes asymptotic to the vertical axis if not corrected? (Hence, I believe, your mate 'Paddy's' dire predictions back in March). What do they think would have happened to hospital C19 admissions without the lockdown?

What do the Branch members think is the best way to retain NHS capacity for other conditions?

Despite my declared 'anti-sceptic' position I am always open to sensible and logically argued ideas, as in Mrs ex-A's DM article. I'm sure there will be more questions when I get the answers. :))

bm clearly not adhering to the rule of 6! =))

I must give bm credit for his entertainment factor, he does present a weird bunch of thinking, and looking, oddballs into his posts for our delectation and delight. From strange taxi drivers with Hitler moustaches, through to beardy weirdy types with red hair and blue 1970's kipper ties, through to the grey haired professorial types like the bod above. What marks them all out is the strangely fanatical glint in their eyes and the sheen of dribble on their collars! =))

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-australia-54768038

Australia has recorded its first day of no local cases of Covid-19 in almost five months.

Zero cases were reported in the 24 hours between 20:00 on Friday and 20:00 on Saturday - the first time this has happened since 9 June.

The state of Victoria - epicentre of Australia's second wave - recorded zero cases for the second day in a row after a 112-day lockdown.

Health officials say more restrictions may be eased in the coming days.

"Thank you to all of our amazing health & public health workers & above all else the Australian people," Health Minister Greg Hunt said on his Twitter account.

Australia has recorded some 27,500 infections and 900 deaths to Covid-19 since the pandemic started - far fewer than many nations.

The nation of 25 million adopted an approach of using lockdowns and proactive testing and tracing to contain the virus, and Victoria - where 90% of Covid deaths occurred - imposed some of the severest stay-at-home and curfew rules in the world.

Victoria and its largest city Melbourne began to reopen earlier this week after recording no new community-transmitted cases since June. People were able to freely leave their homes, retail stores, restaurants, cafes and bars could reopen and groups of up to 10 could start gathering.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews praised the state's six million residents for following such strict rules and said they were well placed for a "Covid-normal Christmas".

Interesting that 'my mate', Tim Spector of Kings College/Zoe (who's app I recommend) reckons, according to his results, that the regional lockdowns are beginning to turn down the rate of infection. I trust him more than HMG and others since his analysis closely mirrors the ONS figures, except his are only 24 hours out-of-date whereas ONS is about 2 weeks. His app figure for my area are also showing a (momentary?) downturn.

The "app" has been a flop.

Using data from it is intrinsically likely to result in an understatement of the scale of the spread of the disease for the same reason that its associated tracing campaign has so signally failed to trace as much as 50% of the 'known' contacts.

Most people in Britain continue to shun his app for a variety of reasons. One reason is that it is now known that the valuable data being gathered by it is for sale to marketing firms. Another reason is that the virus lingers on surfaces for tens of hours after an app carrying infected person has been and gone from that locus.
