Who cares?

If the Norks don't care enough to put up a fight, why should anyone else?

The dictator is dead, long live the new dictator.

I wonder how much autonomy the 'leader' has when you consider the military committee that 'governs' NK?
We see officers taking notes whenever Kim Jong-un 'speaks' in public, but is he free to decide policy?

They're probably taking orders for his next takeaway.

I hope the next one will liberate the oppressed 25 million people of North Korea from the dreadful regime which imposes misery, poverty, and suffering upon them. I couldn't give a toss what he/she/it looks like.

Well, whatever they look like, what you wish for is the opposite of what's going to happen.

If there is a change of 'Leader' it will be interesting to see if they can manage to improve the lot of the population in spite of the sanctions arrayed against them.

Simple, stop building nukes, stop popping off missiles, stop threatening SK. Sanctions gone.

Nothing wrong with a country having nuclear weapons and neither is there anything wrong with testing missiles. Many countries threaten others but that does not attract sanctions against them.

The Soviet, Hitler, Tito, Franklin, Mao, Castro, Quadaffi , even Kim were generally well meaning in doing what they thought best for their country. Despots certainly and brutal with anyone that dissented. They had better living conditions than the proles but not as corrupt as in Africa or South America.

With the collapse of the Soviet regime came massive corruption in a few years a few became fabulously rich owning yachts and football clubs. They benevolent dictators had gone. The ordinary people now free but at the hands of leaders that had no skills. They adore a strong man like Putin (or Trump).

Chinese also succeed under absolute party control. Many are happy confirm if it leads to stability in their lives.

Indeed! the 45th President of the United States does seem to very much like the 'Lil fat one....I can't work out why he is so enamoured of a nasty communist dictator...but there you go....

Flieg - L'il Fat Wun is SO admired and feted by his country folk, which is exactly what the Chump seeks. It is pure jealousy.

The more charitable interpretation is that President Trump perceives it's in the US interest to work with the leaders in place in the world to resolve issues, whoever they are. Building relationships is probably his greatest strength. He has done so with dozens of heads of states, even if the general relationship is adversarial. The beneficial result is that when problems arise, and they do, he can pick up the phone and talk to a friend, not a bitter enemy. Is that bad?

Only question is if these friends deliver what's asked.
