Cummings and goings

Our UK readers will know that dear 'Dominic', Bojo's trusted advisor, has been unmasked as flouting his own lockdown rules by allegedly driving (with Mrs Dom) 250 miles to his parents on the alleged excuse of needing help with 'child minding'.

Dom's own set of 'rules' has said that it is not sensible for grandparents (who, we all accept, are normally older than their grandchildren) to 'mix' with other members of the family and in particular to undertake the 'normal' grandparent 'child minding' (as we normally do). This must only rank second (or equal to?) to the other government 'advisor' having his married 'bit-on-the side' drive across London for a bit of (presumably?) sex - at least twice. (Maybe they just played Ludo, or similar, of course).

Henceforth should any breach of the lockdown be known as 'doing a Dominic'? Watching the rest of Bojo's team fumble and bumble through the viral crisis, and now this debacle, just goes to show how Bojo models himself on his idol The Chump in selecting the right people for jobs.

EDIT: I see Woody has also covered this viewtopic.php?f=64&t=4694&p=235422#p235422

Oh come on - he deserves it! Geographically he might even be a mate of barking, so we await his judgement on it all. Maybe Lester will make a video about it?

You do realise you are condemning the UK to losing its political leadership if he goes, don't you?

True, as Johnson is his puppet with Cummings's fist up his arse, but, you know with leaders like this we might just as well be rudderless, if we are not already!

There's something rancid about these high heidyins making rules for the masses and then breaking their own rules themselves.

It's happening on both sides of the border.

BoJo the Wonderclown needs to get a grip and set an example by firing this Cummings twat.

Morning all,

Yesterday yer man guessed a high of 27, I recorded 32 late afternoon,
today's guess is 28, I am showing 29 as I type. Could be warm later.

Dogs were greatly disturbed at 06.50, nothing seen, they went out and returned at 10.00

It's a shopping day, dunno about this afternoon.

For pities sake.
These 'rules' cannot be enforced 100% of the time, on 100% of the people.

Who really gives a, whether Cummings floated off to visit someone?

We are all taking these new guidelines FAR too literally.

Far more pleasant than thinking about Cummings, even though it is on the wrong thread.

As for Cummings floating off, I can think of nothing better than him being lofted heavenwards in a hot air balloon ( there is something ironic about that given his modus operandi) and being gently "nudged" by the prevailing zephyr winds towards an unknown futurity and fate, lost over the cold North Sea...

Actually I have some sympathy for DC, only a little bit, but I hope OFSO will back me up. Over Christmas when I had a severe infection of non-Covid virus I can remember the salient features, I had a fever, I slept in a separate bedroom and Christmas lunch had no taste. Other features such as fatigue, I had rested in bed before I was really ill, loss of smell, and various things completely passed me by though Mrs PN reminds me of things of which I was unaware. The dry hacking cough came later.

My sympathy for DC is that his mind was probably completely fogged and barely functioning depending on the stage of his infection.

Neil Ferguson might conceivably also suffered from residual brain fog when he needed his squeeze to visit for a game of scramble.:)

BBC News website:
The prime minister gives Dominic Cummings "his full support" following criticism of his lockdown journey, Shapps says
That's the kiss of death for Cummings job probably.

I've been speaking to senior daughter who has been unable to visit due to the lockdown instructions or "the do as you please advice" if you are a member of the political circus.

To describe her as angry and upset is an understatement. Tears are hard to console over a telephone when what is needed is a big hug from her dad.

Her MP is about to get a very angry and pointed letter as is, I suspect, a lot of other Tory MPs.

Cummings has to go - now!! - no ifs, no buts.

Worst-case for Cummings is that he becomes the poster child for why lockdown is important, if his visited family all succumb to the virus. A bit like various church people in the US who are discovering that thoughts and prayers are as effective against the virus as they are against bullets.

I love the mental and visual imagery.

There may though, perhaps, be some adverse repercussions for astronomers as there might be quite a lot of reflectivity off his head. Perhaps we should simultaneously launch Swinney the Poo to form an identifiable double-star.
