Not a bloody bite!

I was trying to ask if we have made the very technology that enables us to communicate, here, a religion.

But as my adopted old man used to say. Ask for nothing, lest, for all the flower of intelligence of those around you, you get it shoved up your **** arse...

So I invoke HAL and to HAL with you all... :p :))

Religion, no touchy.

On long final with a back beam signal, 8/8 cloud, and your wife pregnant and your lover pissed off... is God gonna help you?

Nope!

I want proof, not faith. That I reserve for buying lottery tickets.

A pious Jew named Goldberg had always dreamed of winning the lottery. Every Sabbath, he’d go to synagogue and pray: “God, I have been such a pious Jew all my life. What would be so bad if I won the lottery?”

But the lottery would come and Goldberg wouldn’t win. Week after week, Goldberg would pray to win the lottery, but the lottery would come and Goldberg wouldn’t win.

Finally, one Sabbath, Goldberg wails to the heavens and says: “God, I have been so pious for so long, what do I have to do to win the lottery?”

The heavens parted and the voice of God came down: “Moishe, Moishe, mein boy, give me a chance! Listen to me! Buy a ticket once in a while!”

Identity Politics Alert Warning;

Speaking as a lapsed Roman Catholic educated from age 11 til 18 in a RC Boarding school, in NornIron, whose primary purpose was to turn out young men with a vocation to enter the priesthood, I consider this topic to be far too sensitive and controversial for the likes of O-N members and I shall call in the nearest RC priest to perform an exorcism on the site for daring to discuss such a topic!

Had a Jewish boy in our Boy Scout Troop. He enjoyed going to Summer Camp with us - so he could enjoy bacon and eggs away from the eyes of his parents.

But when they handed out the application forms to become a ‘sky pilot’, I misread the form, being temporarily blind for some odd reason (!) I applied for the position of sly pilot, and the rest was inevitable but bloody hard work as I was never a ‘natural’ :))

You sure you did not just get carried away by the thought of being on the 'bottom' of the seniority list? =))

Ah another lapsed Catholic. I am pleased to know that I am not alone here!

My mother had great hopes that one of her sons would be a priest. Poor woman died disappointed.

Wasn't there a protocol among the landed gentry that the firstborn son went into the military and the second (?) went into the church?
