I was selling a car on a local auto buy-sell website. My ad was being rejected because "offensive language" I couldn’t figure out what that could be, but after a while it dawned on me that since I was listing the clutch master and slave cylinders were replaced , that must be it. Barack Obama and Lewis Hamilton are both 1/2 Black 1/2 White but identify as Black.
When I grew up in the American South those same 1/2 and 1/2's who were light or fair skinned without Negroid? hair were said to be passing, as in passing for White.
There was an obvious benefit then but I wonder how much BO or LW or any other dark skinned 1/2 and 1/2 would tout their half Whiteness.

Forget the little things. How about the blackness of the night sky or the blackness in a mine or tunnel, things we can't change that need 20 words to describe them if not "black".
I've given up any pretense of PC. If black is the best or traditional word it's black. Plain as black and white.
