John, I am sure that with your understanding and tolerance there will be several large US cities that would love to receive your application to become a police officer. Then you will perhaps have a once in a lifetime opportunity to put your ideals into practice. You would obviously prefer not to carry a firearm as this would be against your principles unless, of course, you decided to only use it on white suspects.

You will find the job is full of adventures such as searching the black space behind a cheap bar looking for someone who has just knifed another patron but with your obvious practical experience and bolstered by your beliefs I am sure you will feel perfectly confident. After all, hundreds of police officers face the same situation every night so I am sure you will succeed even without years of training and then, after you have talked your drug dealing friend into submission, he will meekly walk to the front of the building even though facing a long prison term and enter your patrol car without even needing to be handcuffed. After all, that would be a racist indignity.

Call me old fashioned if you like, but in these days of identity politics, BLM etc, I think "race" is highly relevant.

AK, the only thing i disagree with is Asian. Asian, like European, is a western construct. Arab is also too loose a term for a peoples from Morocco to Iraq.

Even eastern European is too wide and we usually state Maltese, Albanian, Bulgarian. Others born in Britain are often referred to as British Asian when more accuracy such at British Indian or British Pakistani should be used.

In the UK context Asian almost excludes Malay, Chinese, Filipino, Indian etc. We really should call a spade a spade.
