You cannot compensate for the loss of a life, but you can provide for the liabilities that the deceased bore for raising others (children and other dependants).

In contrast, just watched the clip about the Manchester bombing. There children lost their parents, now that is a clear case for compensation.

The $12 million compensate is quite in order and may even be less than it should be.
