Another Royal does a runneroffski

#1 Post by OFSO » Tue Aug 04, 2020 7:05 am

For those who missed it, the former king of Spain, Juan Carlos, has emptied the royal vaults and disappeared. Naturally the arse-licking Spanish press only reported it after he'd left, departing with only a letter addressed to his son left on the palace mantlepiece, presumably telling him where the keys are and the combination to the now-empty safe.

I cannot believe the stupidity of yet another royal personage. Fled Spain and is now living in the top floor of the five star Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi. Does he think that by going there the prosecutors will forget him ? Does he think that the population of Spain will forget and forgive ? And his son, the present king of Spain, claiming he had no forknowledge his father was about to leave or where he was going. Utterly unbelievable.

I presume that the Spanish Royals have lived a life unaware of real life and, like Prince Andrew, consider themselves to be above justice.

Backed up by the law. Some student received a long prison sentence for tearing up a picture of the king in public.

Is there a mainstream news link for that?

No. Appeared once on TV news but not shown again. My goodness no. However a Swiss Court (surely not ?) ruled this week that setting fire to a picture of the Spanish king was a legitimate form of protest. News clip not repeated. Remember this is the country where meteorologists were ordered to forecast fine weather when tourists were here.....

Is this the incident referred to?

El País article from March 14, 2018:

Strasbourg: Burning photos of Spanish king is “freedom of expression”

European Court of Human Rights rules against Spain for sentencing two protesters to prison over 2007 incident
And with the morn, those angel faces smile...

There have been many. Exhibition of photos deemed insulting, rap artist deemed insulting, that sort of thing. Problem is the beating people get when arrested. The tradition was that one always said when arriving home bloody and torn "it was the gypsies did it to me."
