Thoughts on Kamala Harris as POTUS.

#1 Post by Alisoncc » Sun Jan 17, 2021 5:44 pm

Watching Joe Bidens performance during various news clips, I get the impression that he will not see out his full term. So what are peoples impressions of a potential President Kamala Harris. My thoughts are that she could turn out to be a firebrand, setting the Alt Right truly on fire. Really quite scary if resident in the US. Suspect there are a lot of people in America who couldn't stomach a black pushy woman as POTUS. Definitely potential for an Un-United States of America down the track.

I think she'd probably make a good one, although if Mitch regains control of the Senate in 2022 anything after that time will be wasted. At least no one tried the birther thing on her (yet). I could see the US West Coast deciding not to be part of the US, although San Diego would probably choose to remain with the middle bit. It would certainly hurt the US economy to lose California at this point, I guess it would depend on how many people would choose to move to Texas instead as to whether the expertise would stay or go. I'd probably reluctantly return to the UK and the worse weather.

From #BLM to rabid Trumpers and everything in between, the US is going to be strongly devided for years to come no mater who resides in The White House.

It seems former President Clinton had an easy task he just rebuilt the economy. Now the problems are worst because tolerance has ran out. I hope for everybody's shake the economy starts creating wealth rapidly.

RiS, the trick is to make it appear to be a Democratic effort and not the previous man

PN, the previous man lost and the protestors supporting him will quickly vanish and change camp if they see they can easily afford a better house or more consumer goods.

For the record - if communist states provided their people with decent houses appliances and cars the Iron curtain would still be up.

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;

" Harris was the only African American woman in the primary, a point of pride for her campaign."

Her parents were not African Americans, not that it matters, but why start with a lie???

Because it improves her image and she may argue as irrelevant as she feels African American and has been treated as such. Obviously mentioning that it shows her lack of need to work to assist everybody - much like a quote I read during the weekend attributed to Lady Thatcher: it is ok to close the income gap even by making middle class people poor. Change middle class for white and it shows a potential bad issue.

I read it as if it was The Guardian that had called her an Africam-American and she included herself as a "Person of Colo(u)r".

IndocaribAmerican. I wonder if the Indian heritage is played down to avoid confusion with the original native American Indian.

Certainly Indians do not consider themselves as black. They are largely Indo-Aryan and not Negroid.

Because... Democrats.
Because they stand on the wall and say "nothing's gonna hurt you tonight, not on my watch".

Don't you have an emoji that says "I puke my guts out"?

When someone 'AfricanAmerican' ie black soldiers met my daughter's best friend they recognised her as AfricanAmerican too. Then they realised that although she was black she could not be AfricanAmerican.
They then tried to work out a similar identifier such as AfroBritish. They asked her where she was from.

"Nottingham"

This is just a long way of saying that they have difficulty in finding an acceptable description for black people who are either not from Africa or even America. It also assumes all Africans are the same.

Nelson Mandela was once being interviewed on U.S. TV, he was asked how something was now as "...an African-American", he interupted her saying "Young lady, I am not an African-American, I am an African-African".

Quite, anything to avoid a word. I am a white European but am I? If a colour is inadmissible is Caucasian better? But what of those from South of the North African Arabs?

They are Africans but they are not Arabs. The are definitely not a minority ethnic.
