There used to be a Jet2 flight MAN-TLV. The flight was a total PITA. It rarely left on time and it had a high proportion of Hasidic Jews on it. Nothing wrong with that as such, but on several occasions I found it necessary to speak to their wives about their children's pushchairs, because for some reason they seemed to be very complicated and folding them up to go in the hold was always a bit of a problem. They did not take kindly to this, and would ask why I was talking to their wives. I explained and they said, "You should speak to me, not her." I can't remember the exact details now, but I understand that in the north London area, some of the controlled pedestrian crossings have been adapted, so that on Shabbat they operate automatically, because they are not allowed to operate machinery.

Having spent a fair bit of time in both camps, as it were, I would totally agree, but any suggestion of this to either side always brought some very dark looks.
