Re: Vaccination 'Passports'.
I guess the dull people in favour of having to have a vaccination passport- or proof of innoculation document, see things differently?
I can think of two ways in which a person can view these things:
1. This is a great idea! If I get one of these, then I'm going to be allowed to do stuff!
2. This is a terrible idea! Without one of these, the Government are going to prevent me from doing stuff which I have always been able to do as long as I've been alive.
Now, I've had the jabs, and I'm firmly in camp 2). above.
In my view those in camp 1). are utter bedwetters, who should be taken out and shot for puerile selfishness.

Re: Vaccination 'Passports'.
I wonder what would happen if there was suddenly a new very lethal variant turn up that was still prevented by the existing vaccines?
I'm not sure a vaccine passport is going to be much use, plenty of people would try to fake one or hold up the queue arguing at the door to get in somewhere.

Just drag the lazy caps out of their offices and politicians protection detail and place them on Friday evening Saturday morning around food stores - a good place not to admit unvaccinated people to pressure them to get the jab. Do that with other critical stores and you have enough pressure towards vaccination.

Watched the full video.
I enjoy most of what Alex Belfield has to say, but twice I've found him to misrepresent what is happening in NZ.
Also he gives the impression he thinks NZ is part of Australia.
Fwiw our "single case" which led to our present lockdown has become, as it was always likely to do, 72 cases as at today.
I'm glad the present measures have been in place for the past 6 days.

I don't know why you Kiwis have been so slow with the jabs.
Surely you've had enough time to jab everyone, and then open up the borders?
I blame that dreadful Jacinda.

You can get vaccination passports here but there's no point as the Supreme Court has ruled it's an infringement of people's rights to ask to see them.

Vaccination requirements, or passports, call them what you will have been a part of life, and travel, for decades! Try getting into some countries without showing you have been inocculated (a certificate of vaccination for yellow fever etc.) and see how quickly you are shown the aircraft back to where you came from...

#108 - I wasn't expressing an opinion but reporting a fact. I doubt, however, whether any bar or restaurant in the world has ever asked for proof one has been vaccinated against yellow fever. Or anything else, except Covid.

Re: Vaccination 'Passports'.
No, but what I am implying here is that the use of the word passport is a sloppy definition and that we need to be more precise when talking, and before we get aerated, about these sorts of things.
Some restaurants demand that you wear a tie, or wear certain kinds of shoes. Isn't that a form of pass too? Does that constitute a terrible impingement on the freedom of the invidividual? The world we live in is palpably constrained, and not free at all! Just saying!

These are the vaccinations that are required in my state just to attend school.

What is the addition of one more?
Should be a no-brainer, especially since as of today the Pfizer vaccine has full FDA approval.

Of course it does. Let's have a conspiracy theory going about it, and some street protests, and call everyone 'wanking sheepies', eh?Does that constitute a terrible impingement on the freedom of the individual?

Well clearly the shoe proscription at some posh restaurants is part of a plot by Bill Gates and the illuminati to deny our rights. It is quite clear to me and a million other loonies!
As a South African I feel particularly aggrieved that I can't simply walk into the Ritz Restaurant in my khaki shorts and my vellies (without socks) and be admitted. Not only is my universal right to freedom being denied, but I am being culturally oppressed
Cue the Great Velskoen Riot of London....
For those who are wondering "what is that idiot going on about this time?" I suggest you read this!

They are not veldskoene, they are velskoens or velskoene... As hard as it is for me, as a South African to admit it, that Rhodie is right!

Don't tend to frequent establishments that require ties.
It seems to me that typically only one person in a couple entering such an establishment wears a tie. If so, if my date wears one I would not have to?

Generally I tend to suggest that my date can keep her hat (and bow tie) on...

Re: Vaccination 'Passports'.
There's no equivalence between....
1. Needing a yellow fever inoculation before travelling to a country where yellow fever is widespread,
and
2. Going down the shops, or going into a pub.
Anyone who thinks these are the same things must be extremely hard of thinking.

If you can't understand how the need for definition here is important, then your brain is even more addled than it appears to be here these days. I certainy didn't imply they were equivalent.
