Ian, possibly not, but you might need one to get put of ZA..

When photo ID was required for internal UK flights a 1250 was not acceptable. Similarly a Forces ID card is not acceptable by the OU unless the exam is in a military base overseas.

As a test I once just flashed my 1250 and it was barely looked at. I did have a travel order to back it up. On the V-Force we were all issued with one to last the tour. My last unit would only issue them per trip.

Is NOBODY worried that you may have to produce your Covid 'passport' before being let into the cinema.

And where will it end? How long before access to shopping centres, or shops have the same restriction?

I agree with you, and believe that the use of such a measure would be blatantly unfair. I don't believe a Covid vaccination passport will work! However I do believe that Covid will require strict measures, worldwide, until a sufficiently high number of people have been vaccinated to reduce the infection rate.

When I had my spike a week ago I asked if I could have a certificate that I'd been 'done'. "No chance" was the answer.

Sounds perfect to me.

I last went to the cinema in 2019 to see Downton at a special performance. Before that was at the Kinema probably 6 years ago.

You curmudgeon you, but I agree with you. Last time I went to the cinema I had to walk around to the row behind me to tutor one of the youths therein, in the ways of politeness and righteousness!

Yes, at Kinema Too the man in front of me threatened violence as I kept kneeing his seat. Given my disability I have to lounge in a seat and my armchair at home is much better.

Sorry to hear it PN. My, sadly deceased, brother used to frequent a cinema with a box, like those found in grand opera houses with a comfortable couch upon which a man might lie, with a partner if he so wished, to sup on tasty comestibles, and to sip fine champagne or wine, without the presence of uncouth hoy polloi to ruin the ambience of a good film. He had a point. As we get older this is what is needed. Like you, I prefer my own couch these days, tis simpler...

TGG, you remind me. When I was young we often had a box at the theatre.

As my father was away at sea he could not book in advance. One of his passengers, a Mrs Fortune, was well connected and would always get us into different shows. In particular I enjoyed the Whitehall farces with Brian Rix. She could also get us a table at various restaurants.

Mrs Fortune always went to South Africa in autumn and back a few months later.

Mrs Fortune (whose name is most inspiring) sounds like more than just a lady who lunched, or maybe still lunches. Long may such people, and mores, abide!

When I received my shot I was given a handwritten credit-card-sized 'receipt' with details of time and place and what chemical was administered.

NHS Scotland doesn't give any type of documentation of injection.

Quite the reverse, actually. They want you to give them the notification letter that you got in the blue envelope. They then put it through a shredder. I declined to let go of my letter. I kept hold of it. I still have it.

My car has a data logger which records the time/date/Lat/Long of every part of every journey. I have a complete evidence chain of my attendance at the locus of the mass injection and I have paper evidence of why I was there.

You need the 'travel document' to prove that you are a Brit with right of entry. It doesn't have to be a passport.

I've entered the UK several times without my passport, just by showing my Seaman's Card. It is proof enough that I'm a Brit.
Speaking from ignorance, but I understood that a Seaman's Card was as good as a passport, worldwide.

When in the RAF I travelled to and from France and to & from Malta just with a 1250.
The RAF got me a passport when we went to Karachi.

Ian, a seaman still needs a passport I would think incase he was discharged in a foreign country.

When, and if, I go to get my jab I will bring my yellow vaccination card to have it recorder. It already has tetanus and shingles vaccines in it, among other things, but I’ll be damned if I am going to show it to some mall cop in order to enter the store.

Haven’t been inside a cinema since mid 90s. Can’t stand the "realistic" noise of sorroundsound.

Ah yes, passports. Mine has my name, the vaccine, its batch number, and date of next vaccine.

Sure, I could lend it to a mate or a tealeaf might steal it and flog it, but all that is needed is some form of photo ID which most people in UK already have. If they don't they will need to get a free one in order to vote in 2023. Having a separate special passport is indeed a waste of money. I think we have given out £450,000 to three companies to investigate passports.
