We have a massive polluting oil spill in the ocean, entirely the fault of man. Wildlife dies, oil on the beaches makes them unusable or at least unpleasant. A few months later it appears to have gone.

Sea levels rise, coral islands become unindated. Actually coral created the islands and will continue doing so.
We did try and control the weather, or at least seed the clouds but to no great effect.

Yes, there are droughts and people die. There have always been droughts and people died but many moved. Today people expect to stay put. If it rains they expect a roof to keep them dry. If it gets hot some just turn up the aircon.
There are just too many of us and even the Chinese attempt at population controls has failed.

Then we have the Earth. Did man cause a massive underwater collapse and tsunami? Did man cause the massive earth quakes? The Icelandic eruption a few years ago was small beer compared with some. La Palma is merely a pimple on the grand scheme of things.

Why do people live in the shadow of a volcano, because the soil is good. And because there are just too many of us and human hope over experience.

The planet is not at risk. Mankind is at risk.

Reducing birth rate is only one method of control.

Quite a good one, though? You thinking of mass murder?

Yes, you drink the beer while I prepare for the future. BTW I have a nice breach front property for sale so would you like the details? It would be a great investment for you.

If the forecast of 40 years ago about the rise of sea level are as accurate as the those for the next 40 years I would take up the offer if AtomKraft refuses it.

Do not worry about sea level change when shopping for seaside properties instead check on the frequency of abnormal weather events.

Every intellectually founded aviation professional should know that sea level is not the driver of abnormal weather.

What makes them "abnormal". Because they didn’t happen before? How do you know that it is not a normal occurrence in this phase of the climate evolution?
Because they stand on the wall and say "nothing's gonna hurt you tonight, not on my watch".

You will not be able to grasp the concept of abnormal unless you are at least normal yourself.

My uncle had a new house delivered in two halves, good roofs. Would have been better when joined together.

Our bumbling buffoon of a PM has now wittered on about sandal-wearing investigators and carrot weapons (he needs both castrating AND locking away) BUT has he or anyone stopped to think of the electrical energy requirements for his doolally plans?

With nearly all vehicles and properties supposedly using electricity in humungous quantities, and the UK threatened currently occasionally with 'insufficient generation capability', where does Coco think it will come from?

Aha! I see the plan - gas-fired generation, of course. Let's also ignore the problems for 'future generations' we will create by expanding nuclear power production.

If all the Countries' cars are going to be battery powered, we are going to need a new National Grid.

Leccy cars are cheap to run today, although expensive to buy. In the near future they will be a bit cheaper to buy, but much more expensive to run. Motoring isn't ever going to become 'cheap'.

Personally, I think the UKs crusade to becoming "green" is going to achieve nothing and cost the taxpayers plenty- but hey!, knock yourselves out!

I worked with an American colleague who planned to buy up large areas of the Mojave desert in California, because he reckoned that it would be next to the sea after San Andreas fault did it’s stuff :D

Someone should be buying the seabed off La Palma as it's rapidly becoming Terra Firma. Bit warm right now but it'll cool down. 6% of the island now under lava. 70,000 tons of Sulpher Dioxide (or something) and nasty grit being blasted into the sky every day, and not a word of protest yet from the adorable Greta.
