Well ok, bo.
You care passionately, but you have no control over it.
That better diddums?

It's a shame you don't think sensibly about most of your rantings.

Re: Climate Crisis!!!!
The burning of plastics at the low temperature of an open fire pumps large amounts of dioxins and other extremely nasty long-lifed toxins into the air. That stuff all falls out within a mile or three, depending on winds conditions, and poisons the soil and crops and anything else it happens to fall onto.
In the farming community we have huge amounts of black plastic from tractor eggs to get rid of. We used to burn it -- until we learned just how environmentally toxic that practice was. Now it all goes into landfill, one way or another.
Re: Climate Crisis!!!!
If I was commuting then I'd consider an electric vehicle simply because of other perks, such as getting to use the carpool lanes and not have to sit in traffic jams. I'd probably already have one if it wasn't for the pandemic which means I just have to commute down the stairs. I've probably done more miles in the van for dog shows this year (in the past two months) than in the car. I let my son drive himself to work in that, he gets to pay for the fuel.AtomKraft wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 11:40 amLlondel.
I guess it depends how much you drive?
If you are doing 30,000 miles a year, it will make more sense to pay up for a car that's cheaper to run. That was me, once.
Now, days go by and the car never moves, the really old one just does a few trips a year.
Anyway, I'm not inclined to join in the eco-lunacy.

Re: Climate Crisis!!!!
That's interesting Plum.
I was surprised to learn about what happens to plastic if you don't burn it- seems it used to mostly go to China, but now they have stopped taking it, so it goes elsewhere.
As for burning plaggy in the back garden, I take your point about the toxicity, but the quantities are very small. It tends to get burnt in a proper fire and the way things are in Bulgaria, anything that slows growth is welcome.
I have no faith in the recycling process, not that there is one here.

Well bo.
I wonder if these eco- nutcases will still feel as committed to the cause after they've had their assholes resised by the prison population?

You can make stuff from recycled plastic......
.....made from household plastic, HDPE recycling plastic '2', milk bottles and various other plastic packaging.
Has excellent acoustic properties and is excellent from bringing the meeting to order.

Tractor eggs, just the shells not the innards, can be converted to diesel fuel.Undried Plum wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 3:39 pmIn the farming community we have huge amounts of black plastic from tractor eggs to get rid of. Tractors burn diesel and lay more eggs which are converted to diesel to power more tractors to lay more eggs, the cycle of life down on the farm.

Re: Climate Crisis!!!!
AK, he mentioned land changing levels. I mentioned the land advance in the Wash that is attributed to post glacial bounce.
There is also plenty of evidence that sea levels were higher in the past. Just up from Dingwall is a layby carved off the side of the hill. The bare earth has sea shells in the strata at quite some height above the Loch below.

Re: Climate Crisis!!!!
Well, I never!
I always thought that '3 arrows in a triangle' meant 'recyclable'- turns out it's a ctually a 'Resin Identification Number'.
Seems a lot of plastic never gets recycled.
I feel a lot better about burning it now.
Take a few minutes and watch this, if you are interested:

Here's another vid on the stupidity of Ethanol. Another load of 'Green' hogwash.
Re: Climate Crisis!!!!
What a bull pooper! He said if I put plastic in the recycling bin most will end up in landfill, burned or in the ocean.
To be sure quite a bit will end in a landfill, some might be burned BUT NONE SHOULD END UP IN THE OCEAN!
Utter crap and no better than I have come to expect from you.

Do they still dump garbage at sea?
I thought that was banned in the 1980s.
I remember the posters: "Over the side is over".
