It doesn’t help the “Climate Emergency” case when their data is regularly demonstrated to be erroneous or even fiddled to attempt to prove their thesis.
The point made by the UK Met Office today
Don’t heed warnings of Day After Tomorrow ocean collapse, says Met Office

Climate scientists said a paper suggesting the Atlantic Ocean current tipping point could occur as early as 2025 was ‘overdramatised’
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/0 ... lf-stream/

Now what; Met Office decried as far right conspiracy theorist climate change deniers? :))

I trust you are not suggesting I had done so?

I am not suggesting you have done so, but as you said many have.

I said
but would add that it would benefit life on earth if the levels of man-made pollution were reduced. You only need to see the dirty 'sky' in pictures of some countries to see the problem.

Referring, obviously, to atmospheric pollution in particular, and I assume you would agree with that?
I agree that atmospheric pollution is prevalent but don't belive that it is entirely man-made. Think of forest fires, volcanic eruptions, desert winds.

Fox, that's exactly how it is. We know, to the minute, when the icecaps will melt in the next 20 years, but we have no clue about tomorrow's weather.

Yer all getting a wee bit far too sceptical about this burning planet emergency, we've all seen the horrifying pictures and photos from the inferno that is Rhodes!

Allegedly some of the fires, according to Greek council leaders and fire crews, were started deliberately, either out of sheer malice or some farmers apparently wanted rid of old tree so's they could either plant more profitable varieties or possibly to sell the land for development.

Meantime, back in the hell hole which is Rhodes, here's a horrendous illustration of just how extreme it all is;

https://dailysceptic.org/2023/07/28/is- ... k-like-it/

So get out there and dig a swimming pool in your garden 'cos it looks like we might all need one in which we can immerse ourselves as the infernos approach.

And now that man:---"Sir Tony Blair has warned against asking the public to do a "huge amount" to tackle climate change, saying Britain's net zero efforts cannot solve global warming alone".

Am I on the same planet as I started out on.... 8-|

I see a GMB TV reporter is being castigated because he claims the alarmist BBC is using ground temperatures reported by satellite, which are much higher than air temperatures a couple of metres higher. The local (to me) city of Figueras was reported by the BBC to have reached 45° one day.
As it happens we were at the shopping mall just outside Figueras city centre around 11 am on that day, and when we heard that news on the same day we looked at each other in amazement, as subjectively it had felt nothing other than a usual summers day (and we have experienced 44° in Girona so we know what it feels like).
If I remembered correctly the car display showed 35° driving home the day it "was" 45° in Figueras.
BBC? BBullsh*t.

We are well past the point where all this alarmist BS, in many other matters as well as climate, has any positive influence for their agenda.
The media and government seem unable to stop however, and if anything are becoming even more hyperbolic.

OFSO sez:--"I see a GMB TV reporter is being castigated because he claims the alarmist BBC is using ground temperatures reported by satellite, which are much higher than air temperatures a couple of metres higher"---:

How very dare you mention the extreme right-wing news organisation which was forecast to become extinct long before it's first anniversary earlier this year, with awards no less, to add insult to injury?!?!?

Auntie Beeb is now well ahead of the Press pack with her Trusted News Initiative and it's strange offspring "Verify", so mentioning the news show which features Nigel Farage amongst their presenters is enough to have some here clutching their pearls and reaching for the smelling salts.

However, back on the misleading stats front, more bad news for all those barely employable PhDs who would not have a faculty, therefore employment, if it wasn't for the much hyped "Climate Emergency" ;

The comments following the article confirm that I am not the only sceptic and dissenter on this 'heated' topic, so please read, digest, then maybe think independently and critically... :-?

We old buggers will soon be dead, and our stupidity, and even our brief bouts of wisdom, and rationality, despite our arrogance, one way or the other, will not matter one jot to an indifferent universe!

I doubt that the human race, as we know it will be extant in another 1000 years (if that), and, ultimately, cosmos wise, who cares?

We will not be dead before this all hits crisis point.

I think they made their move too soon.

And I don't use anything like the however-many cubic meters of rain that fall on my current property per year, so that surplus is returned as well.

As previously reported:—-“It doesn’t help the “Climate Emergency” case when their data is regularly demonstrated to be erroneous or even fiddled to attempt to prove their thesis“.

Here’s another blatant example of figure fiddling to try to hype Project Fear Mk2 but which fails miserably on inspection;

https://joannenova.com.au/2023/07/the-l ... ook-worse/

There are some very relevant but cutting comments, following the article, on that mystical procedure known as “peer reviewing”, whose dirty truth is never highlighted by, yes you’ve guessed it-peer reviewers!

The same technique is employed alongside so-called “factchecking” by vested interests who will ultimately profit from whichever myth is being peddled.

But, heyho, never let the facts get in the way of a good story?! =))

And the phrase “heatwave porn” just about sums up the inaccurate reporting.

“The Lancet is a weekly peer-reviewed general medical journal and one of the oldest of its kind. It is also the world's highest-impact academic journal. It was founded in England in 1823”, so I suppose we may look forwards to the climate fearmomgers delving into the mysterious world of medicine?
