I was in Hong Kong in the mid 1980s and encountered a Guy Arab single-decker in the New Territories.

In that era, the bus companies were very much UK orientated with many of the engineering staff being ex-Leyland apprentices.
Every three or four years, the buses were stripped down and every component was refurbished.
I toured the workshops (my work) and it was remarkable to see lines of Gardner engines awaiting refitting with those deemed unfit for further service being relegated to powering Junks.
