Seems you have been very careful to avoid saying anything to support your contention "for instance killing the Afghan troops who surrendered to the opposition would lead the Septic Army commander in serious trouble."

Point poorly expressed: Taliban have no moral or legal complaints and officers involved with monstrosities may end up as government members, the US military staff much less so - although I admit their limitations are somewhat fluid

There is no doubt that many Taleban prisoners have been tortured and killed during the American tenure in Afghanistan but I doubt you will find reports of more than maybe two or three officers having faced any punishment.

Certainly true that the US rarely holds individuals responsible for killing 'non Americans', or as the rest of the World calls them, 'people'.

Shooting at them? Surely that is not allowed?

Commentary on the war aside, that video is very well put together (unsurprisingly) by Tim Vasquez, who is a meteorologist, who once worked for the USAF. Tim also used to be editor of stormtrack.org (a favourite haunt of TGG) and who is a really nice guy who brings scientific rigor to all that he produces. His weather synopsis in the case of the Air France Flight 447 disaster was a masterpiece of the weatherman's art and science.

I recommend his books to those that love aviation and the weather.

Tim Vasquez

For fans of severe weather forecasting, the USAF was the only weather authority to have ever produced an official tornado warning for the UK when such a warning was produced by the USAF (and a tornado subsequently occurred) near RAF Mildenhall in the early 90's. Stapleford could have done with such a warning last Wednesday night.

For those who are interested in the evolution of the North Vietnamese air defence system, this article should prove to be very interesting.

The Rise of North Vietnam’s Air Defenses

The North Vietnamese literally dragged themselves up by their boot straps, eventually moulding a formidable defense system out of people who might previously have never even seen a motor vehicle.

The North Vietnamese were prepared to throw anything, and everything, at the enemy, and despite their technological disadvantages, they were highly motivated, adaptable and ready to be in the war for the long haul.

PIA suspends flights to Kabul..

Pakistan Airlines suspends Afghanistan flights amid Taliban row...
Earlier, the Taliban warned PIA and Afghan carrier Kam Air that their Afghan operations risked being blocked unless they agreed to cut prices that have spiralled out of the reach of most Afghans.

With most airlines no longer flying to Afghanistan, tickets for flights to the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, have been selling for as much as $2,500 on PIA, according to travel agents in Kabul, compared with $120-$150 before.

I am sure these are just minor teething problems.
