I wonder what boat they will settle on. The Virginia class is much bigger than the Los Angeles with the Astute sitting in between.

Will they go for a much smaller design? Would they even buy in the first of class?

According to Wiki
inability of the RAN to retain sufficient personnel to operate the submarines—by 2008, only three could be manned, and between 2009 and 2012, on average two or fewer were fully operational.
Going to need some inducements in the future. At least with a nuclear they can better liase with the RN and USN in their home waters.

About time, we've been exporting Uranium for years & years & years!, not only should they be nuclear powered, but nuclear armed as well, though 'Scotty from Marketing'...or...'that fellow from down under' as Joe Biden refers to him as, is way too lacking in the leadership and intestinal fortitude department to make any real difference...Scotty from marketing just wondering about the next election!

Pathetic

If the overwhelming amount of NZ citizens choosing to reside here rather than NZ, actually were genuine and actually chose to become citizens, rather than be 'Fair Weather Friends' and stayed here during the harder times, and became citizens....but no...

Sadly I bumped into an old Gym friend I was never close with earlier this week. She was walking her dogs down my street when unfortunately our eyes met.

She informed me that after 33 years working for an Australian Bank, she was ready to return 'Home'....to NZ....now we (Oz) are a very stupid country, and the World is well aware of that....but why we welcome Kiwis here to take jobs with no inclination of ever becoming Citizens and embracing their adopted Country I'll never know...well, I've got a pretty good idea actually,....Australian idiocy

Standard sentence was only 7 years. After that you could go home.

What she do to deserve 33 years years?

Australia, the continent where you can check out, but never leave! Or so EA01 would have it! :)

I am sure that the good lady paid her taxes and brought decency, competence and kindness to her adopted country, and that her accent probably worked to ameliorate the harsh Australian one! =)) Let the poor woman go EA01, has she not suffered enough? =))

I see France has recalled its ambassadors from the US and Australia over the matter. Wonder why they never recalled the one from the UK, unless they don't currently have one.

Australia will not have any ambassadors at all when they sign on as the 51st state of the Empire.

Why doesn't NZ make a pact with other defenceless nations? Like Iceland, for example.

If any one of you gets attacked, the rest join in a concerted letter writing campaign on behalf of all of you.

Or you could just pimp off your mates- whichever''s easier.

So lets see, just who should we tag along with, Oz, UK, US or Iceland.
Actually Iceland would not be a bad choice as IIRC they won the last couple of wars they have been involved in which I can not say for those others!

She'll prolly do some good back home. Having spent so much time on West Island she'll be able to take back a vowel or two to add to the NZ monovowel and spread them between North and South Island.

I've no doubt that is true!...

We signed on as the 51st YEARS ago John!, get with the program!....actually I reckon if you walked the mean streets of Auckland you would find plenty of kids wearing USA basketball team singlets, hoodies, listening to gangster rap music and committing crimes.....but you wouldn't be the 52nd....you gotta play with green glowing stuff.. :)

At least John, we have the freedom to make that decision and not have to sing the praise of despotic and leftist regimes that seems to be your want.
