Same with Spain. Two colonies in N Africa, more trouble than they are worth, are never mentioned 'abroad'. And certainly not in same sentence as Gibraltar.
Except by the British when Spain goes off on one about Gib.

Starmer made his speech today at the Party Conference, if you can't bear to put up with 7,000 words of it a short description is available from our trusted commentator

If you aren't intelligent enough to think of the right words to describe your opposition how are you going to be intelligent enough to think of the right way to run the country if you ever get the chance?
I thought she said "Scum", is there a more accurate term?

One of the lefty intelligentsia hit IDS over the head with a traffic cone this afternoon.

The Labour party have deteriorated into a marxist unwashed unemployed rabble that have nothing to offer this country, the opposition seems to be from the Reform Party, so as the Tories move more to the centre the opposition is coming from the right.

We can relax in the comfortable knowledge that we may well have 20 years of Conservative Governments ahead, now that is cheerful news.

Om, as long as they listen to the opposition and dont create a one party State. We see what happens when one party thinks to is the Bees Knees - not just Archer, Hamilton, Hancock, even Major/Currie, but Hoon, Straw, and various other jailed MPs.

I am rather more of a Norman Tebbit Tory than a Boris Johnson Tory, I listened to a R4 interviewer yesterday make her point that whilst there may be more higher paid jobs available, they might not be where people who need them might live, no one suggested that they might have to relocate.

Johnson has done the big things pretty well, he alone was prepared to actually do brexit, he did a good job with the vaccination programme, AUKUS was a pretty big coup and he appears to be resisting the EU and France over the continuing Brexit squabbles. However he is failing to address the day to day issues and is not able to engage the right people to sort them out, Patel is useless, Gove is a weirdo, others whose names I can't be bothered to remember seem pretty inefficient.
The reason for this might be that the Tory Party have demonstrated their disloyalty and treachery over Brexit, many were flushed away at the last election, but there are still remainers in the Tory party who put their private views before the Countries interest, therefore Johnson has a very limited pool in which to draw his Ministers from and this is showing in many ways.

At the moment it is nigh on impossible to get to see a Doctor, prices are rising, fuel is still an issue and we are having to pay more tax to pay for a thousand a day dingy divers to go into 5 star hotels, we have policemen that are indistinguishable from dustmen and none of this was addressed at the Tory Party conference.

Most people don't give a toss about green issues, transvestites, expensive boilers, cycle lanes or going into space, the sooner someone whispers that into Johnsons ear the more chance he has of winning the next election. He also needs to tell his missus to STFU and get back in the kitchen.

As an unshakable Tory I am afraid the conference did not inspire me, I liked the passing reference to Starmer as a bus conductor, but was hoping for rather more than that.

Four out of Ten.

In your first paragraph you mentioned relocation. I heard a woman complaining that she had been allocated a new home 125 miles away where they knew no one.

Sort of coincides with having to relocate for work. If you do relocate for work there are associated costs of travel or relocation. Thousands of people relocate every week. Service people usually relocate frequently and often with little notice, though the process can be relatively painless.

If you are on benefits and are allocated a house in a different area, is that grounds for complaint?

Our poor children leave school drenched in socialism, they have never been thrashed, forced to learn latin grammar or exist without a mobile telephone. If they do honour us by thinking about a job, it has to be at their convenience, they have spent their childhood watching Polish workers digging up potatoes for a couple of quid an hour, and it hasn't occurred to them that this is the future for them.
We expect the Tory Party to rewind our society, preferably back to the 1950s, but they seem to be more woke, leftie and wet than the Labour Party, we want them to urge people to get on their bikes, ideally without protective headgear.

That depends - you might find that those who do care about such issues don't vote for him so he's trying to attract them without pissing off his existing voters.

so he's trying to attract them without pissing off his existing voters.
He isn't managing that.
He might not be able to stop various parts of the Establishment (such as the BBC and the police service) descending into a woke mess, but he might gain some flagging support by at least saying he disagrees with it, as he isn't doing that we must assume that he is in favour of it.

Votes are disappearing like thawing snow at the moment, the Tories need a new leader, Liz Truss might be a better bet, she is a Thatcherite which is what is going to be needed to sort this mess out.

That Truss woman, is a blithering idiot, much like her supporter(s) here! =))

FFS!

Look at her dead, totally insincere, raisin eyes.

Such idiots shouldn't be allowed procreate... =))

Imagine Truss at some meeting with competent, truly intelligent, foreign ministers from around the world! No wonder Britain is becoming the laughing stock of the world!

Yes, yes, she went to Oxford... so what? So did the current the joker that pretends to be our Prime Minister!

TGG, you seem to have a bit of a downer on all government ministers.

Why not have a go at the shadow cabinet members, there are some Really dangerous people there? Thank goodness they are not in positions of responsibility.

Probably because "they are not in positions of responsibility." ?

TGG is not alone. They are a shambles. Do you think differently?

BOAC, I am personally unimpressed by ALL politicians and am happy to acknowledge that they are all a wunch of bankers, but TGG seems to pick on one side only. Have to agree that the ones 'in power' are the prime targets.

Keir Starmer not enough to the left :))
The Labour leader was warned to move to the left while visiting a HGV driver training centre and taking a lesson.
But after reversing the vehicle, and striking a bollard on the course in Oldham, he was warned he would have failed a test.
When all else fails, read the instructions.

Now known as Steer Calmer in his new HGV driving career!

He should take the lead from some of the Labour delegates at this year's conference. The loon delegate at 4:25 gives the game away. :)) :)) God forbid if that lot ever get elected, they'll make Dianne Abbott look moderate.

It's always my fault - SWMBO
