Bows and arrows

#1 Post by Pontius Navigator » Sat Oct 16, 2021 7:22 am

PHX asks
Why are a bow and arrows always linked together but we don't say a crossbow and bolts or a gun and bullets? :-?
Bow

Strangled to death by his bow tie
Slashed with a violin bow
Fell from a bow window
Ship's bow smashed onto....

So many different uses of the word Bow that is needs a qualifier.

Also was a name of a Nightclub/Disco/whatever, in Alice Springs NT back in the early 80's. Generally patronised by Females of the NR type, or so I was once informed. Never went there M'self, and that is the truth! o:-)

One bloke from the Seismic Crew apparently regularly frequented the place. He had the handle of Hagar.

No idea why...

So he had a penchant for the Spinifex Fury, more commonly known as Bitumen Blonds. :-$

Which, of the bow and arrows of discontent of those murders, are alleged to have been committed by bow and arrow?

Sorry to have disturbed the thought of those who have already asked such. Or of those who might.

Just askin'.

According to the Noggie media, nobody was killed by a bow and arrow. They were stabbed with a sharp object.

A policeman with the very unNorwegian sounding name of Rigoberto Villarroel was shot in the back with an arrow, but was not badly hurt. Some other people were shot at in the Co-Op, but the people killed several blocks away in Hyttegata were all stabbed, not shot with a bow and arrow.

For some reason the foreign, ie non-Noggie, media are all misreporting the story as five people having been shot dead by arrows.

I read the Noggie news media several times a week, in Norwegian of course. Mostly it's a useless language for me to speak because 99% of Noggies speak English so well, but occasionally, such as in the case, it's good to read the Norwegian reporting directly rather than the heavily filtered crap in the English language MSM.

It's notable that the Noggie media are not focusing on the perpetrator's race or nationality or religion the way that the US & UK media tend to do. It's being reported as a matter of someone with apparent mental health issues. As such, he is entitled to medical and clinical confidentiality so the Noggie media are being very respectful in that way and are being quite dicreet. It's a very different approach to journalism as practiced by the Daily Wail and The Sun etc who publish such shite as has misinformed so many people here and in the US because for them Truth an unprofitable commodity. They boost the ratings and therefore their revenue by totally distorting the reports and broadcasting gobshite such as five people having been shot dead by bow and arrows.

UP, wrong thread. This was about Bow and Arrows when we don't talk about Guns and Bullets. Bows, as a word has a multitude of meanings.
