That man is not a politician,he is an inspiring leader of his nation. After watching the video I believe that we will eventually see that Putin has bitten off more than he can chew.

And another different view, probably more accurate.
And meanwhile back home this is happening,

"Finnish President Sauli Niinistö and Prime Minister Sanna Marin announced on Thursday their intention to submit an application to join the NATO military alliance "without delay". Joining NATO would be a reversal of Finland's decades-long policy of neutrality. Sweden is expected to decide if it is also applying for membership in the coming days."

A view from the other side, it being accepted that the first casualty in war is truth.
They say one thing and we say another whilst the body count increases.

Difficult to know whom to believe in these troubled times...?
But at least we have another URL to hear the their side in the absence of RT.
And then there's this;

Rumour of another maritime missile hit by Ukraine.

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
Russia needs control of the Black Sea. Presently the Russian navy is centered mainly on Sevastopol. This base allows resupply of Russian fighting units from the Crimea as well as the ability to attack Ukrainian targets from the sea with cruise missiles. The long range ATACMS missiles that could/are/might be supplied to Ukraine by the US have a "published" range of 300km which would just allow them to be launched from the Ukrainian coast line near Odessa and reach Sevastopol. Without the major naval facilities in Sevastopol the Russians may as well go home because there is no point in having a land bridge to nowhere. Must be tempting.

So when will we be sending the Light Brigade under Cardigan? To put it another way, "here we go again".

How Putin’s disastrous war exposed the folly of Macron’s EU army

For those who can't view through the pay wall, the article is illustrated with two pictures from Exercise Trojan in the Black Sea.
Marines are shown abseiling from a helo on to a Romanian Navy mine layer and two Marines? shown have Romanian arm patches and the helo a Romanian built version of the Puma.

It is of great concern to me and many others that Putin may become 'desperate' as his health fails and his war fails and is tempted to push the chemical or at worse the nuclear button. I do hope there is enough commonsense in the military to defeat that.
Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
I feel the same way.
Wondering if it will be one action/event (ie. Boing's thoughts about missiles to Sevastopol) or an accumulation of things, that cause him to reach a tipping point.
Either way, not a pleasant thought picture.

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
If, if, Putin is approaching terminal illness that may be a factor but I tend to feel that his overall drive is to be known in the history books as the man who restored the "greatness" of Russia. This could easily be simple megalomania or even senility. Any way he has lost the plot, he must feel this, his Generals must know this for a fact and the people of Russia will know this, hopefully not too late. In any respect Putin is in an isolated position made more critical by his apparent fear of COVID and of a coup. Practically, for some reason he is acting irrationally.
Putin is shielded from the worst of the bad news because nobody wants to be the one who breaks this to him in case it costs them their necks so he doubles up on his bets trying to bluff his way out of playing a lousy hand. The pressure created on his Generals must fill them with frustration and almost certainly they are now talking to each other plainly although they were reticent to do this until they knew they were safe talking to each other. I would imagine that they are now working on their Plan B. They know that Putin has broken the Russian military and reduced it's reputation in the World. They know NATO is being reinforced. They know they need free access from the Black to the Mediterranean sea to achieve their power expansion plans and this is now unlikely to happen without a major action in Turkey which would be followed by NATO activation. With a reduced army it will be years until the Russian military will be effective again so I think we can forget any land actions for the next 10 to 15 years at least.
So what about the nukes? It looks as though Putin differentiates between tactical and strategic weapons so he may well try tactical nukes in Ukraine. It is absolutely critical that the Russian military understands that NATO considers that ANY use of nuclear weapons will trigger a response based on the idea that nuclear pollution will be detrimental to all nations not just the combatants. When Russia truly, really, really, understands that a full blown nuclear response will result from any use of nuclear weapons Putin's bluff will be called. His commanders may feel obliged to tolerate his present insanity but I doubt if they feel the victory in Ukraine is worth the total destruction of Russia.
Putin is acting out of egomania and he can afford to gamble the short years he has left but his Generals have families and homes to consider and the long term good of the country.

^^ A very good summation of Putin's possible future actions, perhaps his inner circle may decide to act knowing the Russian people are starting to react to the folly of
the invasion of Ukraine.
