Good question, PN.

As you know, though many others do not, Lloyds is not an insurance company. It is a market place for insurance, which is open to the world. Being very old, and therefore well established, it is a focal point for world trade in insurance and the world therefore metaphorically beats a path to its door via the brokers who actually do the insurance deals with the underwriters.

Of course, as major participant in world industry and world trade, Russian contributors to world trade are involved. That's the nature of global trade.

With the ligature being tightened around the throats of the Russian people and their lawful trade, it is inevitable that insurance of legitimate international trade will choke them (and the rest of us). Insurance payouts take up to three years to be paid out. That's the way it has always been. The insured party pays up front, in the expectation that an insured amount will be paid out in the event of an insured loss.

"Freezing" of assets of a targeted enemy is simply a legalised form of Robbery. Theft, in other words.

What is happening in the NATO/UKUSA/EU economic war on Russia is simply Robbery. Legitimate trade deals with Russian businesses are being trashed and looted. Legitimate payments for goods and services provided to Russian people and businesses are being blocked in pursuance of War. Not by Lloyds, but by the warmongers of UKUSA who surround The City of London which has never been part of the UK or of the EU.

It can't be good for business for The City in the long term. People around the world will soon wake up to the fact that they too can be financially raped and robbed if they do business with perfidious Albion. That's not a good 'optic'.

I would say, "if they brutally attack another country" instead of "if they do business with perfidious Albion". Personally I prefer a little financial pressure rather than tanks rolling across a border. It is quite strange that the Russians have made more threats about the West supplying arms to Ukraine than they have about sanctions.

It's all part of a pattern.

There are three parts of the war against Russia. Rolling tanks isn't part of the plan. Quote the opposite.

Makarov burns...

#1524 Post by TheGreenGoblin » Fri May 06, 2022 4:08 pm

Russia’s Admiral Makarov warship has been hit by Ukrainian missiles and burst into flames, according to Ukrainian officials.

The frigate would be Russia’s latest naval loss in a troubled campaign, coming after reports that US intelligence helped Ukraine locate and sink the Russian warship Moskva weeks ago.

It was said to have been sailing close to Snake Island in the Black Sea south of Odesa.

Admiral Makarov
The Ukrainian military on May 6th said that the Makarov had been struck by a Ukrainian R-360 Neptune anti ship cruise missiles. Dumskaya, a Ukrainian-state news site, said Russian forces had sent helicopters to rescue the crew of the ship. However, Western military forces have not confirmed this. Data from Flightradar24 showed a USAF Northrop Grumman RQ-4 Global Hawk and an RAF Boeing RC-135 Rivet Joint flying in circular patterns over the Black Sea, suggesting that something may have happened to the Makarov.

One assessment of the Moskva 'accidental fire and explosion' is that the ship's defensive radars were not active at the time. Good job Ukraine didn't launch some missiles at it, then?

No doubt we will hear the same drivel about the Makarov, if this news turns out to be accurate. Maybe the terrible storm will be the problem this time.

Shouldn't the news be true Moscow /Russia/ Kremlin / President Putin would have the ship and her crew all over the place discussing current news and how important is the weekend before the May 9th parade.

prospector - I don't think an accurate position is needed?

How many other navies are in the Black sea?
How many ships are radiating known Russian radar signatures?

In any case, if it was yet another unfortunate 'accidental' explosion on board like the Moskva, why would anyone need it?

FlightRadar24 indicates that NATO is rather well informed about the goings-on in that stretch of saltwater.

I suspect that there is a hairy finger in a bunker somewhere which points at the crosshairs on a video screen and says "that one, please".

Forte11, Global Hawk out of Catania. Also RAF Airseeker out of Waddington. NATO 11 out of Konya with ITAF using their new AEW. There was another type out of Ramstein not to mention various tankers.

Not likely a drone, this article would appear to be more accurate.

https://www.msn.com/en-nz/news/other/us ... b09bb28df8

"Former US intelligence officers are advising their successors currently in office to shut up and stop boasting about their role in Ukraine’s military successes.

Two stories surfaced in as many days in the American press this week, citing unnamed officials as saying that US intelligence was instrumental in the targeting of Russian generals on the battlefield and in the sinking of the Moskva flagship cruiser on the Black Sea."

"The initial report in the New York Times on Wednesday about the generals was partially denied by the White House, which said that while the US shares intelligence with Ukrainian forces, it was not specifically shared with the intent to kill Russian general officers."

It would appear that the Russian Air Force cannot fly in good weather. https://www.airlive.net/live-watch-mili ... oscow/amp/

I thought that all Russian ATC altitude readings are in metres.

Dunno. They WERE in the process of 'westernising' a while back. That METAR is as stated.

If you look at flight radar we have loads of NATO and USA AWACS around the region feeding the Ukraine with intel. We may not have boots on the ground but we certainly have boots in the air just outside their airspace.
