It's my understanding that there is no international validity for any of Russia's so-called restricted airspace over international waters.
Nor, for that matter, should any other nation declare same.
It's something the media always get wrong when talking about ADIZ incursions.
Anyone know different?
The Greeks.

We used to file for Cyprus avoiding the Athens FIR. If we did penetrate they would tell us to avoid and file a complaint.

Just to add, the Sovs had no such inhibitions when they intercepted an SR71. It was egressing the Gulf of Bothna when they scrambled a Foxbat to catch him on the way out. Scrambled out of the GDR it passed about 14 miles behind. It was assessed that it could have engaged the Blackbird.

In recovery it violated Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and West German airspace. They were not particularly bothered about over flight let alone FIR penetration. Not that NATO had been much bothered either.

Don't know about Muscovy,
That does not surprise me but perhaps I can give you a hint, Muscovy is not just the name of an American duck**.

*Not really a duck being more like a goose.

The Athens FIR basically is Greek national (i.e. Sovereign) airspace, since there's less than 24 miles between all the outer southern Greek islands (with two tiny exceptions, both at the eastern end).
They can therefore legally complain.

However, the Black Sea doesn't have islands, so anywhere more than 12 miles from the coast renders the use of Restricted, and therefore also violated, null and void.

The use of FIRs is under Rules set by ICAO, but non-ICAO signatories such as Monaco can do what they like.
In any case, breach of FIR Rules is not grounds for a shootdown. And the same would have applied to the Foxbat.

Slovakia to send 13 MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine
From CNN

Slovakia will send 13 MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine, Prime Minister Eduard Heger said Friday, making it the second NATO member to pledge the aircraft after Poland.

"Promises must be kept and when [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelensky asked for more weapons including fighter jets, I said we'll do our best. Glad others [are] doing the same," Heger said on twitter.

Military aid is key, he added, to ensure Ukraine "can defend itself" and Europe against Russia.

Some context: Poland has already announced that it will transfer four MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine in the coming days.

Polish President Andrzej Duda said the planes – from about a dozen that it had inherited from the former German Democratic Republic – would be handed over after being serviced.

The White House said Thursday that Poland’s decision to send the fighter jets is a "sovereign decision" that won’t spur US President Joe Biden to send F-16 aircraft.

Kiev issues warning to countries that don’t support Ukraine
Countries that “mistreated Ukraine” will be held accountable, says Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba

Ukraine will remember those who backed it in its conflict with Russia and will hold those who did not accountable, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba warned in a BBC interview on Friday.

The choices every nation made during Russia’s military operation in Ukraine will be “taken into account in building future relations,” Kuleba said, adding that countries that have “misbehaved in the course of this war and mistreated Ukraine” would pay a price.

“If anyone in the world thinks that the way this or that country behaved – or treated Ukraine at the darkest moment of its history – will not be taken into account in building future relations, these people just don’t know how diplomacy works,” he stated, noting that “war is a time when you have to make a choice. And every choice has been recorded."

What a jumped up twat.

Fox, the bit where we flew was the southern median south of Crete which caused us to enter Libyan and Egyptian airspace. Cairo would never acknowledge (unless you swore at them, then they would complain).

All military aid donated from NATO countries has been from that State and not NATO. For NATO to supply materiel would require NATO approval and a couple of countries might object.

As far as aircraft, or tanks for that matter, NATO had a position and individual NATO members chose to abide by that decision.

Probably not. Then again, neither was Gadafi, and it all ended well for him, didn't it.

Looks like the Ukrainian MoD is as good as ours....

Something straight out of Kafka:
-We need you to stop hiding from your mobilization, Mr. K.
-But I'm already at the front!
-That's not an excuse, if you don't come it will counted as desertion.
-But if I leave it will be counted as desertion!?
-That's not my concern, Mr. K.

Rasputitsa in full swing.

Two things are reliable.

1. You will need a tow for the tow who got stuck trying to tow the guy who got stuck initially.

2. The tractor boys can't plough yet, so they are 'acquiring' Russian equipment again!

here's the Best Of compilation from last year!

Sometimes, you don't even have to tow them!

20 Years ago today, Bush invaded Iraq.

There are three four among the reasons you shouldn't fight in stupid wars.
This is one
https://media.breitbart.com/media/2023/ ... 657125.jpg
This is another
https://media.breitbart.com/media/2023/ ... 345339.jpg

But the primary reason is that the above will happen whilst you bankrupt yourself, and lose. TWO primary reasons. I'll come in again!*

Ukraine is not a stupid war...for the Ukrainians.
