Islam is not a race.

He has British ancestry going back several generations so when does he become 'British' ?

In some parts of the UK, your family can have lived in the village for ten generations and you're still a newcomer.

The basis for webbed hands and feet and origin of many village idiots, I'd be bound.

I have known Poms who lived their life somewhere thinking they would always be Poms and reality only set in when they returned 'Home' and thought there was a pension waiting for them.

Tis why I no longer consider myself British. While I did pay into the UK pension plan for 10 years until I left, it has been over 30 years now and I do not expect to get anything from it.

You should get something from it, it seems to kick in once you've contributed for ten years. Presumably 10/35 of a full pension. I expect to get something because I got to 30 years of payments, but that's still a few years away before I find out how much. The annoying thing is that when I left the UK, 30 years was enough for a full pension, but then they bumped it up to 35 a few years after I left.

My mother was an Anglo Irish snob, who loved the English and their mores, standards, and some of the attributes that have made the English respectable, not to say admirable, over the last two centuries of Empire. She married my father, who was an Afrikaner who, for historical reasons, had been taught to loathe perfidious Albion, but was in love, and, often, in lust with my mother, when they weren't fighting. I am a South African, who loves Britain (even the Scottish, God help me, I mean, look at Atomkraft!) and an English woman, i.e my English better half.

What does this make me? Answers on small postcard to: No 01, do I f*cking care! :-s =))
