A near-death experience for Sunstone. On Friday last week he bit a very large bee that was annoying him. Understandably the bee stung him. Cat went into anaphylactic shock and had to be rushed to the vet who administered injections, one every painful indeed. Cat now apparently recovered. Note right side of head...

Actually appearances are deceptive. He's wondering whether to leap on me. And Mrs OFSO has now staunched the blood 🩸 from her hand! Sunstone is the Devil Cat incarnate. Although ok with me, and loves his dad...

Kepler is allergic to bee stings. Unfortunately they drown in the pool and the last one that got her was already dead when she chomped it out of the water and the sting stuck in the inside of her lip. We carry Benadryl allergy pills with us - in the event of another sting, give her five pills and get her to the vet for evaluation and possible extra treatment.

Our cats were never very co-operative about pills!

We had one like that. She was amazingly good at it. You'd think you had her securely held and yet, at the critical moment she engaged an extra gear and managed to avoid the pill going down her throat. Even the vet couldn't manage it. I guess she's been gone a couple of years now.

Ours was good/bad too. I thought I had him trapped and better still his claws as well, with his head up the tight sleeve of an old jumper. In the struggle to get the pill in his mouth he somehow managed to squeeze through the sleeve. We wanted a moggie just before I was going away to sea for nine months, but he was the only cat for sale in Dorset - a long haired silver tabby - very pretty but not very sociable! He ended up with an aunt who spoiled him as he thought he deserved.

Having said goodbye to the last of the E-litter puppies on Monday, on Wednesday we had this.

From back to front is Melody (D-litter), Lucy (C-litter), Kepler (B-litter) and Faraday (A-litter). Tesla was off for her cancer check-up at the time.

Melody is almost a year old now, and is bigger than her mother, Faraday, and Lucy, who is just over two years old.

The amount of fur I removed from the skimmer filter was enough to coat a chihuahua, if not something bigger.

Not so cute, especially if you're a mouse. Somehow she learned that bringing live ones in to the shower meant she could play with them and they couldn't climb out. And it was easy to clean up after she'd finished, too.
