In 45 years we have had a few vet's trips, apart from euthanasia, dog 1 had a claw amputated, dog 2 had a major Op (not expensive), dog 3 had a caesarian (would not have been covered), dogs 4 and 5, and 6 posi died (would have been covered and , dog 7 small lump removed when puppy.

On balance self-insurance was less expensive.

For pure present dog we have a petplan which pays for her tick and flea treatment and a 10% discount. Her spay operation meant we 'Dave's two months payments.

Soulful? He's adorable. Good luck with the training Wods When I took my first dog (a lab) to obedience school, I was told at the end of it that I was untrainable! Dog ate her certificate on the way home. I think she got it for showing up. It certainly wasn't for obedience. :O3

What's with all this auto underlining crap? I notice this happens a lot, not just here, but on other websites

Yes, and another thing, he always said one of the best smells was a puppy. Having one for the first time , how right he was.

A nice little pup, Wodrick, looks honest and eager to please.

Got one of Juno this afternoon, she came to sleep next to me while I was watching a bit of TV. She's a world traveller; like Zizi, she's flown the Atlantic three times.

Oh, and Henry isn't really sad, he's just gotten to the age where he's worked out that if he puts on that expression he's more likely to get cuddles and treats.

Today I lost my dear mate & colleague, Beau. He came to us just four years ago as a mature dog whose first owner could no longer care for him. He was suffering severe separation anxiety, but immediately established himself as part of our family, as well as workshop supervisor, official greeter and walk leader. He was well mannered from day one, and was a friend to all - adults, small children, Dave the postman, dog friends Molly, Cosi & Brodie, magpies Maggles & Eyebrows and grand-dogs Okami, Rucky & the late Ting Tong. He was a would-be scourge of white cockatoos, scrub turkeys and cats.
Beau did not have a mean bone in his body, and was the most loving, intelligent and friendly dog I've known. He is sadly missed.

Much sympathy, Hydromet.
Your words and photos are a lovely tribute to your pal.
He looks much-loved and so happy.

Hydromet: Kudos for adopting a mature dog..... Clearly Beau's life was a happy one and I am sure he got as much out of thee relationship as you ant the rest of your family. I am sure you can rest assured that he knows he was loved in his later years.

RIP Beau......
