We rose at five am today as our Spanish friend, having been in Spain, couldn't do paperwork concerning Spain, in Spain, but had to visit France where the Spanish Consulate could do it, in France, for a Spanish citizen. (If that sounds stupid, you have not lived in Spain). Eating croissants and slurping tea, we were made cogniscent of Visitor Cat by knocking on the window. Throwing some chicken, kept for the purpose, down the cat, it was shown the door and breakfast resumed.

We went to meet Sunstone yesterday, four weeks old. Not yet vaccinated so we had to disinfect.

Little kitten not doing so well. Glands swollen. No antibodies as the mother rejected it and it didn't get Mother's Milk.

That's not likely to work out so well.

I remember an elephant not doing so well as a result of the same thing. Long story, not to be told here without tears in this household.

A bit late with the advice but I have read about the trick with the butter - put some butter on the kitten, mother cat licks it transfers its smell and takes it as its own.

I remember that trick being taught to me by my grandmother. She said you need to smear the butter on the kitten's arse. The mother will lick it and stimulate the kitten to crap and to feed which will stimulate the mothercat to feed it etc.

She recommended home-made butter, but not the salted kind.

Little kitten holding its own. Fingers crossed🤞. Only other cat in household is an elderly and gentle ginger male, Byron. Very proud cat. Honoured by having his portrait painted, and knows it.

We adopted a kitten at three weeks old a few years back. He'd been abandoned by his mother in our back garden. We found him early morning and initially left him there in case his mother came back for him, then went off to a dog show. Back around 1pm, really hot outside, Kitten was still out there mewing so I scooped him up, took him indoors and gave him some kitten formula, which we just happened to have in the house. Tesla adopted him and would clean him and do all the necessary stimulation stuff, even though her tongue was as big as him. Sadly he went out one day and never came back, but he'd spent three happy years with us by then.

Little Sunstone still with us. Eyes changing colour as he grows older. I think six weeks now.

Not as much as do the eyes of Visitor Cat, a much older female, who also reads my mind and uses very complex vocal phrases. Visitor Cat, aka Cat 49 from a tattoo in one ear, is also Stealth Cat and She who Walks Through Walls in Complete Silence.

Note eyes. Open and observing at all times.

I have just received a video taken this morning of the kitten Sunstone. A tiny ginger ball of fluff playing with his toys, travelling around the room in a blur at Warp Factor n, behind ball/stuffed animal/piece of paper, huge front paws, huge claws, lashing tail. His minder commentates he appears to have recovered. And how!

Sunstone this afternoon having spent a pleasant few minutes biting Mrs OFSO. Note the 'M' on the forehead, placed there by Mohammed on all ginger cats, they say.

My hard-working painter friend(a) in Islington went out this morning not expecting to be confronted by a miniature lion in Elizabeth Avenue.

An old friend: I photographed it in early 2020. Looked just the same, arrogant.

They look like savages, but I suppose that they are as soft as clarts.
