There was lot of AAW'ing here in my household when we watched this documentary on the cute but incongruous friendship between the baby hippo and the little rhino noted by Woody.

As I cleared the dishes away after lunch Sophie the Visiting Labrador sat and watched me. I received telepathic messages such as "why are you scraping the plates into the bin when I am here? " and "why do you need a dishwasher when my tongue is here? "

Many years ago, when Tesla first arrived in the US, first morning after she got here, I'd just finished my breakfast of egg and bacon and was taking the plate to the sink, when I saw her watching me. She remembered, from several months previously (I was in the US on my own for a few months before the family flew over), that I always used to let her lick the place before it got washed. So I restarted the practice.

Henry knows what he gets and when he gets it.
SM regularly has cereal and blueberries with Greek Yoghurt for breakfast. H loves licking the bowl.

Friend's dog Sophie reads human faces perfectly. We sometimes exchange glances for minutes......She sits on the floor staring at my face. I allow a faint smile to play across my lips. One thump of Sophies tail on the floor. I smile more. Two, three tail thumps back. This is the labrador's equivalent of smiling back at me. Lovely dog.

The late "Heather The Wonderdog" was a dwarf Golden Retriever who was the pot licker and plate prewasher was diagnosed as diabetic (insulin dependent) in her later years.
I am convinced that her/my diet was partly responsible for her condition.
I followed her down the diabetic path some twenty years later at about the same relative age.
