Meet Buddy / Pablo

#1 Post by PHXPhlyer » Tue Oct 17, 2023 4:39 pm

A few weeks ago I responded to a NextDoor post about a found dog.
The person whose house he showed up at could not keep him long enough to try to find his owner, if he had one. He was taking him to the county animal shelter at the end of the day if no one claimed him.
I messaged the finder and told him that I would foster the pup to keep him out of the shelter. Nobody responded to the post on the NextDoor site nor the found dog report on the county shelter's site.
He was checked for a microchip but none found. The vet tech checked nim and said that he was neutered and asked to estimate his age he said "Ancient, At least ten or more". His nails were very long, neglected and curling under so they were addressed.
So now he is officially a member of my pack.
He joins D#1's rescue cattle dog from the Rez. and D#2's three Chihuahua mix brothers who were also rescues.
I call him Buddy but D#2 insists that to her he seems like he should be Pablo.
We are still acclimating; the cattle dog tends to want to herd him around and the Chi-Chis being only three years old want to play a little too hard for him. As a result he lives in my bedroom and has to have supervised visits with the rest of the pack.
Being old and short he has to use a ramp with a pillow at the top to get up on the bed but he has finally perfected a technique for getting up. Being an older fellow he also needs to get up in the middle of the night to go pee so the timing works out for both of us.
Hopefully we both have some good years ahead of us.

Happy ending, PHX.
He looks like he's pretty content :)
Many happy years to you both.

Yay for rescue animals.....if we could only convince the majority that rescue animals are the best.....

Another one for Pablo :-bd

He has obviously won the doggie lottery and will enjoy his golden years with your family. Well done you.
