Emergency declared on Air New Zealand flight, plane lands in NelsonAn Air New Zealand flight from Christchurch to Auckland was diverted to Nelson after an emergency was declared.
Flight NZ5966 landed safely in Nelson just after 7am, the airline said.
Chief operational integrity and safety officer Captain David Morgan said the crew experienced an air conditioning fault with the aircraft.
The Dash 8-300 aircraft was crewed by two pilots.
The plane was on a repositioning flight, which gets crew and aircraft in place to fit flight schedules, so no passengers were on board.
The aircraft will be assessed by engineering and maintenance teams, Morgan said.

Air NZ repositioning flight, emergency declared

Re: Air NZ repositioning flight, emergency declared
Just trying to figure out why the air conditioning might be considered an emergency. I guess it includes the entire system, so if something was leaking in and contaminating the air then I could see that might be a problem. Or if it also includes the pressurisation side of things and that had issues.
