It appears that the section located is the rear fuselage rather than the cockpit section.
Ergo, the body is likely to be that of the passenger rather than that of the pilot.

If that picture shows the fuselage broken off at the aft end of the main door, then most of the aeroplane is elsewhere.

I don't think that's the case or they would have looked for and found the for'ard bit, ie the wings, cockpit, engine, etc.

Sky said they only showed that part of the aircraft so as not to show the human remains, so I assume there is more of the aircraft there, just no published photos yet.

Somewhat West of Alderney but the majority of the casualties from my father in laws ships came ashore at St Breuic, a few on Jersey and a handful on Guernsey. A body could come ashore anywhere

Yep the Channel is difficult. Once had a guy take himself for a long swim (suicide) on Amorgos just where we used to rent a house on the coast. We had a boat there and knew the currents. The police came to see us mainly about when we had last seen him but we told them where they would find him in a couple of days. We were smack on.

Occasionally asked to do a Coastguard aerial search for a body, and after the first day of expensive searching the Powers What Be suggest standing down for three or four days as the body will almost certainly re-appear near the point of initial drowning. i.e the tides follow a regular pattern, so the body initially sinks and the tides take it out and back unseen, then the production of decomposing gasses within the corpse brings it back to the surface. Seems to work sometimes.

Ex-A, I can't remember if that type has a door on the rhs. If it did, you could very well be right.

The body recovered from the aircraft has been formally identified as Sala, the footballer.

Reported on BBC Spotlight.

This was in the DT early this morning :
It is not yet known whether it is the pilot or the footballer, whose body has been found, but this morning it was brought to Portland Port, Dorset, as this is the nearest part of the British mainland to where the plane was located.
An example of the importance of correct punctuation as the extra comma changes the meaning. It should have read :
It is not yet known whether it is the pilot or the footballer whose body has been found, but this morning it was brought to Portland Port, Dorset, as this is the nearest part of the British mainland to where the plane was located.

The authorities have declared that the body found is that of the footballer, not the plumber.

The AAIB has also said that no more field investigation of the wreckage will be conducted.

I think you have it SB. See below. Thus the plumber went swimming. Hope he didn't have a few monkey wrenches in his pockets otherwise he will never surface to face the music - George Frideric Handel's Water Music one would presume. Or perhaps Ralph Vaughan Williams' Sea Symphony.

Ex Ascot.
Is that really necessary?

No, it isn't. Even though we are talking about a pilot whose approach to flying seems to have been less than careful and which has cost the life of another man.

Yes, as a retired professional pilot I feel that anyone who kills by incompetence deserves everything they get.

Really?
What about the Chinook guys for example?

Anyway, you can say what you like, but I think it's uncalled for.

Where have you been since 2011?

I request that you retract that implied slur on Royal Air Force pilots.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1994_Scot ... nook_crash

This guy was flying an unsuitable aircraft in icing, unqualified to fly IMC, unqualified night flying and not licenced for charter. So I stick by my statement. I will say ill of the dead because he killed someone. If he had survived he would have faced similar charges to the Barton pilot.
