MH370
Re: MH370
Plane wreckage containing 'many skeletons' and painted with the Malaysian flag has reportedly been found in the Philippines, prompting speculation it could be missing Flight MH370.
Police confirmed they had received reports of the discovery in thick jungle on the remote island of Sugbai in Tawi-Tawi province.
An audio technician, Jamil Omar, contacted police in Malaysia to say his aunt, Siti Kayam, had stumbled upon the wreckage while she and others were hunting for birds.
Police commissioner Jalaludin Abdul Rahman, based in neighbouring Borneo, said the woman claimed she climbed into the smashed fuselage and saw skeletons.
Captain Giovanni Bacordo, commander of Naval Task Force 61, said a team of men on a gunboat had been sent to investigate the report but could not add any new information.
'We interviewed the people at the Sugbai Island (also known as Sugbay) - the fishermen - but they have no knowledge of it,' said Captain Bacordo.
'If we are too check thoroughly it has to be a deliberate effort. It's a big island, 3.5 miles long, but we did an initial investigation with the populace,' he told Philippines media.
Further investigations are to involve Mr Omar, 46, and his his aunt.
An officer admitted that if it was a hoax call, it did not make sense that Mr Omar should have given police his name and that of his aunt.

Now, if it is there - there aren't so many lost aircraft around out there, right? And who would make up such a story, knowing a hoax would be found out very soon?

OK, all's quiet on the hoax front, new data provided:
Australian authorities searching for the wreckage of a Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 that went missing 20 months ago have been asked to urgently re-investigate an area in the Indian Ocean.
Sonar pictures collected in the remote area off Western Australia between September 22 to 25 by the Australian Transport and Safety Bureau (ATSB) show what could be debris from the plane, experts said.
U.S. geophysical consulting firm Williamson & Associates said the images bore a striking similarity to the underwater debris field Air France Flight 447 left on the Atlantic Ocean floor when it crashed in 2009 - killing all 228 passengers and crew.

Actually the guy hanging on to the cable got the shock of his life and let go when the sonar picked up a voice speaking in Malaysian. The voice was complaining about the kit bumping across the top of their aircraft, a Boeing777-200ER. Apparently a translation of the words spoken requested that they buggar off and leave them in peace.

I was wrong about the origin of the 'new' debris (found in Thailand). Obviously pieces of TOP are still floating around in the ocean.

On Monday, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries said the metal piece is "highly likely" to be part of a Japanese H-IIA or H-IIB rocket that was launched from southern Japan, based on an initial examination of photos and videos of the object.
Company spokeswoman Sayo Suwashita said officials are trying to determine which rocket it could be from and its launch date. Rocket debris falls into the ocean after every launch, and most is collected but sometimes pieces can be found some distance from the launch site, including in foreign waters, she said

Unfortunately, it would probably drag the unwashed with them.
The only comments I ever made about the MH370 saga was in the very early days, and it was about dual passport holders and immigration/emigration procedures. Then when parts were found on Reunion, I gave i/p, but then I've spent 5 holidays on the island, I am familiar with what is a rather remote place that many people couldn't put a finger on, on a map.
That which I am ignorant of, I keep my mouth shut. I find it keeps my foot out of it.

I gave one professional point not speculation. It was deleted. I was told they don't want professional input as the press may pick up on it.
