Someone uploaded a clip on Whatsapp to me with the tug and wheel well bay fiercely burned (and getting worse) but I have no idea how to upload it here.

Didn't look good that's for sure. At the end the fireys looked like they were abandoning it.

Kein Problem, dass kann mann leicht ausbuffen.
FRANKFURT (Reuters) - A Lufthansa Airbus A340-300 was heavily damaged and 10 people were sent to a clinic to check for potential respiratory issues after a towing truck caught fire at Frankfurt airport, the German airline said on Monday.

The 10 people include ground crew and fire brigade staff involved in putting out the blaze.

The fire occurred while the truck was repositioning the aircraft, which had no passengers or crew on board at the time, Lufthansa said in a statement.

“The aircraft is heavily damaged,” Lufthansa said, adding that it was due to be used on flight LH426 to Philadelphia on Monday.

Apparently it's a hull loss, but presumably won't count as an accident if nobody was on board.

Shouldn't there have been someone 'on the brakes'?

The only a/c fire that I witnessed was a Canberra B2 in a hanger at Coningsby.
The Fire Section almost had it under control, when the 2 spare starter cartridges, stored up the back hatch, went off!
The Fire Section stood no chance after that. The Cpl in charge of the Firemen earned himself a GM that day.

It was the only gallantry medal I witness being earned.

The spare starter cartridges should have been removed before the a/c was put in the hanger. Someone got it in the neck for that.
