Re: ET crash ADD NBO
Sorry, I was thinking that Airbus builds (on a schedule) and delivers, Boeing builds (on a schedule) and withholds the aircraft.

......or dispatches the aircraft, but the client isn't allowed to put them into service. (To be fair to Boeing, the word 'yet' might be inserted at the end.)

OFSO a practical question are those MAX filling all available places around the factories still owned by Boeing?

Re: ET crash ADD NBO
I would assume they are. You can order and pay for your new Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Porsche (or in my case a Ford) from a stack of ready-builts, but until it's in your possession, documents and keys handed over, it's the factory's responsibility. I cannot imagine any airline taking delivery of an aircraft they have to store and - one day - recommission, just to get Boring off the hook.
Sorry, Boeing. My phone did that...

Thanks ian16th
Translation: There will be more ass-covering and status-claiming going on than you would believe. This will take bloody ages.I think it's important to understand that never before in aviation history have you had 10 aviation authorities come together to conduct a review of this sort

Channel4 UK Wed 20th Nov @ 2100BST are doing a prog on “Boeing’s Killer Plane: What Went Wrong?”.
If you‘re not doing anything else might be entertaining spotting the discrepancies and lack of continuity?

And more, nicked off the other lot;
https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archi ... vH3rL2NfoM
Will it get 2 or more vanes, software change, shrunken centre console and a lightweight girlie capable trim wheel?
Or will there be lots of cheap saucepans appearing on the market?
PS. I did mean lightweight girlie and NOT a lightweight trim wheel ! !

At one time there was a very petite Portuguese female pilot flying the NATO AWACS, I often thought she would not have the physical strength to fly the aircraft if it all went to *****.
At least the 707 derivatives still had the full size pitch trim wheel.

BM,
You raised a series of practical problems that Boeing needs to deal with but I am wondering whether they do not have an even bigger residual PR problem even if they fix the practical problems.
Is the designation 737 now beyond its sell date? Boeing did pretty well with the customers and the FAA in retaining the 737 name but I suspect that the 737 label will now make airline sales departments and purchasing departments shudder. It may be that Boeing needs to escape from the 737 albatross but this is going to mean a vast waste of money and enormous delays before they can field (runway ?) a new aircraft and even then the name Boeing has lost its glow.
Sic transit gloria mundi.

Put simply, like wot I are, I always thought the NG-900 and onwards was a stretch too far for what was a good craft!

So boing, it seems both the model and the brand are in a difficult position. As I was starting reading your answer I thought that a part of the development team would/should be working on a 797 adopting technology from 787 and really delay the return to flight status to help people forgetting the 737 model.boing wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 5:57 pmBM,

However a tarnished company image is more of a serious image but Boeing knows the way out of it - they did a fabulous job promoting the hard work they put on the 777-200
Re: ET crash ADD NBO
I agree the 737 should’ve stopped at the -900.
It’s time that 757 airframe derivatives be looked at. Appears to me there’s quite a few possibilities if done right.

There goes Boeing's intention to expedite the release to service of all the grounded aircraft by the end of the year. It will take months for the FAA to complete this process, releasing aircraft in a trickle next year.PHXPhlyer wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2019 6:48 pmFAA will now individually review every single new 737 Max before delivery
