IIRC Etops clearance was based on both the core engine and its ancillaries and their respective drivetrains & gearboxes and their proven reliability.
I never thought Etops was a good idea except for the beancounters.
Only the will of Big G that we haven’t had a major nasty so far as a direct result of this snake oil system.
