777X first flight scheduled for 23/1. Lots of fingers crossed, I think. I heard somewhere that Boeing shares had been suspended, :))

It’s official: Boeing 777X will take to the skies Thursday
Something to shift focus off of MAX.
Boeing better hope that the 777X doesn't hit any major snags!

I am not sure I understand the difference between halting the production and stopping besides sending workers to other tasks.

So chaps and chapesses - will Boeing abandon the MAX and start afresh, or persevere? If the latter, I wonder what the stock value of the MAX airframes really is. If the former, they will vacate the small to mid-range aircraft field to AB and take years to recover any sort of position.

BOAC, or a Concorde solution? Fix it just to prove you can then quietly move on to a 'new' aircraft.

The airline problem would appear to be large demand and a throttled supply. With AB orders to 2024 only Boeing can meet that demand. The other airline problem is simply Boeing itself, will they want to take the commercial risk?

"Fix it just to prove you can then quietly move on to a 'new' aircraft."- first bit OK, but will airlines want to fly it, and have you any idea of the time-scale for 'quietly moving on''?

That was my second point. And no idea of time scale but I would guess a fix this year but no bets on how long to empty the car park.

G-CPTN:
Approx 400 undelivered and another 350 or so with airlines grounded.

I read smorning in the SCMP that Boeing’s been advised to change the MAX name to something else so as not to spook the SLF, if and when it gets cleared to fly again.

A rose weed by any other name... 🙄

I still want them to have 12 months incident-free flying before I'll be willing to fly on one.

They’ll probably call it the 737-10 or something ‘del without any fanfare and you’d be none the wiser.

Might need a bigger name change.
