Bek Air Fokker accident at Almaty
A Bek-Air Fokker 100 has been destroyed in a take off accident at Almaty- formerly known as Alma-Atta, in Kazakhstan.
93 pax, 5 crew on board. 14 dead sadly, including, tragically, 6 children.
Not much info, but ended up close to the airport in three chunks. Looks like a high speed abort, or possibly a descent for some reason, moments after getting airborne. No fire. Looks like they were using 05R. Foggy weather.

Sisemen, your point created a question in my mind. People living in call climates should be pre-conditioned to hit the on switch on the anti-ice system. I guess you can't answer this question since you operate on a different environment but I would like to know what other people who have operated long into this kind of weather.

Possible wing or engine ice contamination. The F28 has no slats and the junior Speys have a narrow inlet compared to the larger BRTs. I’ll wait till the final report is made.
Where’s the obligatory Metar?

All deaths from prangs are tragedies, not just kids.14 dead sadly, including, tragically, 6 children.

It looks like a Tay engined Fokker 100, fat engine cowlings and no cockpit eyebrow windows.

AF has lost an identical aircraft in similar conditions in early 2007.

Just saw the news, CAVOK? -11 deg. Is airframe icing likely in those conditions? Experienced fuselage icing where a hot fuselage melted snow and we had 2 inches of ice. The wings were OK.
The news said there were several wheel tracks suggesting failure to sustain flight. Lack of thrust (in the right direction)? Lots of possibilities aren't there?

Diluting the de-icing fluid to make a quick buck also happens in some places, it gets sprayed on hot but 15 minutes later it's just a clear sheet of ice on the wings.
