Engine Failure San Jose

#1 Post by llondel » Tue Dec 31, 2019 1:51 am

A bit of local excitement
A charter jet carrying the University of Kansas men's basketball team made an emergency landing late Sunday at Mineta San Jose International Airport.

The San Jose Fire Department was called to the Airport just before 5:30 p.m. on a report of a Swift Air 737 passenger jet with an engine out that was scheduled to return to the airport, according to an airport official.

Swift Air flight 5093 landed safely, but fire crews were on hand as a precautionary measure. The team deboarded the plane and stayed the night in San Jose.
From the video, looks like something broke in #2 engine and everything proceeded according to the book (apart from the unauthorised use of "deboarded").

Actually ‘controlled deplaning’ (or simply called ‘deplaning’) was a term used by my old mob to differentiate it between a normal exiting and an evacuation e.g. a fuel spill. Basically it was a hurryTFU using normal boarding door(s) and pax leaving their stuff on board. Same with a received unspecific bomb threat. A specific one requires pax to take all their carry-on with ‘em.

What does sh!t me to an extent is this ‘preboarding’ nonsense for cripples, kids, grannies etc. I mean pax either board the aircraft or they don’t. If it was termed ‘early boarding’ then fair enough.

Easy, I just walk 400ft down the street. I'm just outside the city boundary.

🎵 ding..Ding..DING!

“This is an early boarding call for GoblinAir123 to San Jose for the following passengers in this order: unaccompanied children, Tiny Tims, crippled crumblies, burnt out crumblies, all non-marbled crumblies, accompanied crumblies then normal crumblies. The rest of you lot remain seated and STFU until a further boarding announcement is made. Please follow these instructions and enjoy your flight to picturesque San Jose... Philippines.”

Very definitely an ATPL Nav paper question. Probably worth 50 marks too, so if you blew it you failed. A Lamberts Conformal would be needed as well as protractors, sharp pencil and a steady hand.
