There I was, painting the new magnetic runway designator, when 'wallop'!

Interesting that SouthWest is "fully cooperating with local law enforcement and FAA as they investigate this event. Apart from making the aircraft available for police forensics (they'll probably want to record the dent on the engine cowling and any blood traces), what possible blame can you put on the crew or the airline. Or is that just standard PR boilerplate?

I'm surprised that the ATCO's aren't being blamed for allowing FOD to remain on an active runway. :D

I once had to avoid a dog which was running across the grass landing strip at RAF Halton.......a bit easier to avoid than the Homo Sapien in this scenario. I feel very sorry for the aircrew involved in this sorry tale.

Not quite the same thing, but there is a public footpath that runs across the grass strip at Clacton on Sea. I once had to go around there when some bolshy pedestrians asserted their right of way...

What makes Britain great... ;)))

For those who like a bimble, the folks at the airfield are very friendly. As for Clacton itself... :-s

Slightly off-topic (and why not?), I recall a reasonably low-level departure from Blackpool in 1976 and 'coming across' a chap resting on a lady in the dunes. I think he may have had a premature ejaculation. =))
