Thank you!
We await the official investigation with much interest, I guess, as ExSp33db1rd said.

Re: Pakistan Airbus Down
Even the RAF steely-eyed aces get it wrong with the gear occasionally.
A Gnat trainer tried to land with the gear performing its role as airbrakes, on realising the visual aspect was wrong and possibly hearing the scraping the pilot applied max welly and climbed away to return for a successful landing.
Well done, but the tech log (F700) entry would have been interesting as would the subsequent explanation?
Thank you Mr Folland, making the gear and airbrakes deployable by the same lever, with initially the same acoustic and drag cues, was the first slice in the Swiss cheese.
Don’t know what happened to the ‘3-greens’ check and radio call nor whether the runway safety caravan operator popped off a red flare.
Perhaps boac can cast more light on the event, once his tears are dried...?
Tragic accident to PIA, especially for all hoping to be reunited for Eid festival, the recorders will hopefully show the full sequence of Swiss cheese in due course.

No, but I know who done it. Maybe he was colour-blind? Maybe the tech log entry reported noisy wheel bearings?Perhaps boac can cast more light

I was just waiting for somebody to note that.
I am tempted to have a peek at TOP to see what the "cognoscenti" there are saying!

I think caravans are very much a military fast jet thingy. I don't know how much attention the Tower give to every landing.

Ah, thank you.
My last Cpl i/c Flt Planning had been the Caravan Controller when a GR1 made an improper approach on an F3. My boss was in the F3. The Cpl got PTSD and refused return to caravan duties.

Re: Pakistan Airbus Down
Forgive me for quoting from TOP but it appears the conclusion of the accident report have been drafted, all that awaits is the report.
Hope we get soon a good accident report. This does boil down to a CRM failure we should learn from. The picture from the cockpit window under Cavoc conditions must have been so wrong on the approach, that there has to be an interesting story, why they continued the approach. A few minutes more on a circle or go abound would have saved all lives. So what is it, that has prevented this course of action? My suspicion is, that human, cultural, and airline management factors play the main role here.
Re: Pakistan Airbus Down
I think 'we' got pretty close to solving the accident here, PN?
Out of interest, there is a suggestion that there were '2 Captains' on the flight - a true recipe for disaster.

Re: Pakistan Airbus Down
Not seen the video but there was a comment that the CAA had released a video that showed two strikes rather than one double strike.
Re: Pakistan Airbus Down
From Av Herald:
"On May 23rd 2020 Karachi Airport reported based on CAA inspection report that the runway inspection revealed scrape marks of the left engine start 4500 feet down the runway, the right engine scrape marks begin 5500 feet down the runway. About 6000-7000 feet past the runway threshold the scrape marks end."

Re: Pakistan Airbus Down
The cause is obvious innit?!
Didn’t overfly the concrete perfectly wings level for approx 1,000’ of LDA.
It must be a lack of handling skills after long absence from the seat.
On a more serious note, has anyone thought about blood sugar levels during Ramadan?
Bet that doesn’t get looked at in the investigation?

Re: Pakistan Airbus Down
Is it? I flew once on a flight with two senior cabin crew members. I noticed and asked one she confirmed that they were two and explained seniority is based on join date. She added she loved those flights senior pay and "un-senior" responsibilities. Obviously different considerations may apply east of the Med.
Shall we consider two captains as a revalidation flight after a long absence of the less senior captain?
Are travellers excluded from following Ramadam rules?
Re: Pakistan Airbus Down
We are talking about in charge of an aeroplane, not serving Tea and Coffee, Ris, and yes, very "different considerations" can apply there, and probably more likely in 'Eastern parts', although quite few cock-ups have happened on these shores.RiS wrote:Obviously different considerations may apply east of the Med.

Re: Pakistan Airbus Down
Once saw two Britannia airways Captains who had diverted the Malta as they didn't know where Pantelleria was.
The Senior, checking the other, happened to be the brother of our security officer at Akrotiri. Anyway we watched their (his) flight planning process as the SC did nothing whatsoever to help. This was for the second of what would be three legs and surely he had seen enough on the first leg.
