Don't have any more info other than headline article re helicopter pilot killed whilst fighting California bushfires. I do so hope G~Man is okay. On account that's what he does for a crust.

A Huey! Safe flying to G~Man although I am sure the dude abides!

Duh ?? Was it a Huey that crashed, or does G~Man fly a Huey?

Twas a Huey that crashed. Having looked at the list of heli's that the dude flies, it seems that that long list includes the Huey.

I call him the dude because he is an ordained Minister in The Church of the Latter-Day Dude!

I wish him safe.

I do abide, and fortunately it was not me. However, the pilot, Mike, used to fly for me and left to work closer to home with a large agency. Yesterday he was flying for my sister company when this occurred. I have flown that Huey a few times.

At this time, it does appear to be a mechanical issue---I cannot say more at this point.

Sorry to hear about your friend, Gordy. Helicopters are so often friviously used as a plaything for the rich and famous - to lose a pilot who was using them for the practical purpose of aiding the emergency services in their task of saving lives and properties is tragic. Both your friend Mike and you have my total respect.
