Re: Would you fly Air France?
At EGCC we had for many years a night stop Frog, for most of the time a 727 and subsequently an A320. The arrival and departure were generally the prerogative of Avionics as they were so easy.
Never a defect, never a crew as they were off by the time you had done your walkround. Throw a bit of oil in it, the hardest bit with a 727 as steps required.
Sloppy crews, dirty aircraft inside and out, didn't see much of them just had to hang around to get a signature. Always late.
For me not unless I could absolutely not avoid it.

Probably full of frogs. No way.

Re: Would you fly Air France?
I haven't flown AF for many years, I stopped because the service was so poor and the aircraft so dirty. Before lockdown my daughter flew to the UK on a mixture of Qatar and KLM from Australia, she was supposed to make the journey in reverse back to OZ. Her KLM sector was changed to Air France on the return journey. After the flight she said that it was a very poor experience and nothing would persuade her to fly AF again.Lousy service and totally disinterested people in Paris and on the aircraft. Hate to think what was happening in the cockpit.

I vote for AF
Flying back from Nice the sector time was just into the Club class range. A first for me. I boarded and was directed to one of the front seats. Sun was shining in through the open door when this gorgeous apparition floated up with a glass of champagne on a tray. Real champagne, not cheap Italian stuff.

I do remember the name and the network, my father did travel with them extensively in the 80's and 90's.
I have flow AF twice about 25 years ago. It wasn't bad, it wasn't the best. I wouldn't just because I prefer to accumulate miles for lounge access

Re: Would you fly Air France?
Not exactly Air Chance, tho' we were flying them out of Paris. Collecting her belongings from the plastic tray when it had passed through the X-Ray security machine, my wife was missing a gold necklace. When it became obvious that we were going to make a big, noisy, issue out of it, the security Neddie responsible for putting them in the machine suddenly "noticed" that we had left it in "this" tray, presenting with us with one from the bottom of an empty pile that he was guarding. Nuff sed. Our flight was more important than proceeding with accusations. One is more observant now.

ExSp33bd1rd, our late friend Mike said once you always wait for the tray to go through the machine before you go through the metal detector.

Re: Would you fly Air France?
RiS, one year my black PDA case with other bits and pieces didn't make it through at LGW. They were honest and I got it back from lost property 3 weeks later.
Last month Mrs PN's watch didn't make it through Barbados. Spotted 30 minutes later. First report and it was not in security, Second report and there it was!
Regarding waiting for stuff to go through, not at LGW. They have so much stuff shunted sideways for search. Why must women carry so much flamables? Put it in hold, they will only be without war paint for 8 hours or so. Think of the risk from drop down oxygen

The BEA Press release on the incident is here https://bea.aero/fileadmin/user_upload/ ... 270422.pdf
I suggest those who have declared themselves happy to fly AF should read it.

Re: Would you fly Air France?
I wouldn't. Ignoring any inbuilt prejudice from the cross-Channel rivalry, they seemed to have a bunch of incidents way above the level of other Western airlines, so I added them to my Do Not Fly list some time ago and never really got around to removing them.
Re: Would you fly Air France?
I prefer not to. Sometimes I have no choice because of destination and the company booked it. I have a former colleague in AF, his stories are pretty scary to be honest.
A French colleague described their events as "they regularly hit the planet and we get another example of poor CRM".

Re: Would you fly Air France?
At Beaujolais Nouveau time, yes. On my weekly bizzy class flights to Paris years ago there was an unlimited supply of admitedly small bottles of New Wine. "And another one for Monsieur ? And one for the wife? You have p'raps a brother who would like a bottle? And possibly a dog that drinks wine?" George and I would stagger off the plane hardly able to carry them all.
If anyone today wonders why the staff association reps from Germany had hangovers at the meetings, that's why.

Re: Would you fly Air France?
Same is said of Air France pilots - more wine with lunch, Captain?George and I would stagger off the plane
Perhaps that is what is causing all the problems - they are all half-cut.
