WILLIAMS, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — Three people are dead after a small plane crashed in Williams early Tuesday afternoon, a Coconino County Sheriff’s spokesperson said.
The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed with Arizona’s Family that a single-engine Piper PA-28 crashed after departing H.A. Clark Memorial Field Airport around 12:20 p.m. Tuesday and that three people were on board. Williams police said two victims were located inside the plane, and another was found outside of the aircraft.

According to police, witnesses said that the plane fueled up at H.A. Clark Memorial and Field before taking off. The witnesses said that several moments later, they heard the plane operating at low to no power. The plane crashed north of the airport in a nearby field. The victims have not been identified.

The cause of the plane crash is under investigation by the FAA, National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), Williams Police Department and Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office. The Williams Police Department says a police incident has closed off an area near the H.A. Clark Memorial Field and advises drivers to avoid the area.

1140 HP Cherokee with three people and just fueled taking off at 6,691' elevation not to mention DA even with 6,000' runway is marginal at best even with engine performing properly.

Identities of two victims released in deadly plane crash in Williams

https://www.azfamily.com/2023/10/18/ide ... -williams/

WILLIAMS, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — The Williams Police Department released on Wednesday the names of two of the three victims of a deadly plane crash. Officers identified the pilot as 31-year-old Hyemoon Kim from South Korea and one of the passengers as 44-year-old Christopher Evans from La Mesa, California. Police said the third victim’s name hasn’t been released since they are having trouble locating family members and people who knew the victim. Arizona’s Family learned the plane was registered to a flight school out of San Diego called First Flight Corp.

According to Flight Aware, Kim took off from the North Las Vegas Airport just after 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. It was last seen in Kingman an hour later at an altitude of 9,300 feet. There’s no record beyond that.

Hours later, around 12:30 p.m., people in the Williams area told law enforcement they heard the plane make noises that sounded like low or no power. That’s when Kim turned the plane back north toward Williams Airport but never made it. The crash is still under investigation.
