A Cirrus SR22T (G-RGSK) suffered an accident while performing touch-and-goes at Duxford Airfield.

It appears the ?spin recovery? chute fired just after impact. Sadly, looks fatal.

Looks pretty serious. The media is not (yet) stating that the pilot has passed away, but he/she can't be in very good shape after that. It was indeed the CAPS parachute going up, I wonder if that has a G-switch in its system somewhere.
Having checked this PDF: https://flyasg.co.uk/wp-content/uploads ... _Guide.pdf I don't think it is activated by any sort of impact detection/G-switch. It would not make sense to have that included as CAPS is not meant for zero-zero activation at all. You need altitude to deploy it. Most likely the deformation of the fuselage created the pull on the cable that triggered the rocket.

Pilot didn't make it.
A man who died after a private plane crashed at a well-known airfield has been named by friends and colleagues as pilot Simon Riggs.

Emergency services were called to Imperial War Museum (IWM) Duxford, Cambridgeshire, at about 13:41 GMT on Tuesday.

The victim, aged in his 50s and from Bedfordshire, was pronounced dead at the scene.
