I see that England's cast offs did all right for Yorkshire against Zummerst.

Bairstow & Ballance 91 each, Lyth 62.

Pathetic performance from England with the bat yesterday. Got to improve on that.

Pretty average game all round.
All generalisations are false, including this one.

I am most pleased to note that Lancashire,as well as Surrey, have gained promotion back to Div1,with two games left to play.

Well done Farmer Giles!

IPL to reschedule games

The Bombay High Court has ordered the Indian Premier League to shift 13 games from the drought-hit state of Maharashtra to ease the water crisis there.

It has followed a public interest litigation filed by a non-profit group which contended that a lot of water would be wasted in watering the pitches.

The court ordered games scheduled from April 30 in the cities of Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur to be shifted out, including the final which is scheduled for Mumbai on May 29.

Hopefully this will screw up their Ashes campaign :D

Australia captain Steve Smith (right) and team-mates
It is unclear whether Australia captain Steve Smith will be taking his team on a two-Test series in Bangladesh
More than 200 of Australia's senior cricketers will be "unemployed as of 1 July", says Australian Cricketers' Association president Greg Dyer.

The current agreement between Cricket Australia and the country's top players expires on 30 June and no new deal has been struck.

"It is extremely likely that as of 1 July we'll be jumping over the cliff together," said Dyer.

"The fundamentals of the deal are nowhere near to being resolved."

Former Test wicketkeeper Dyer added: "We will be assisting in whatever way we possibly can in that but they're unemployed."

In March, Cricket Australia proposed salary increases for men and women as part of a revised memorandum of understanding, but that meant players would no longer receive a percentage of the organisation's revenue.

This was rejected by the Australian Cricketers' Association, who also turned down a recent revised pay offer.

The dispute has put a question mark over the Australian men's team playing a two-Test series in Bangladesh scheduled for August, while they are scheduled to host England in the Ashes from 23 November to 8 January, 2018.

The women's team is currently in England for the Women's World Cup and are under contract until the end of the tournament.

What a shambles this England tour to Australia is.

The management are pathetic. Dropping players because they just might be charged by plod over an incident is simply crazy and would not have happened in any other sport. Now a dispute beween two England players in a bar in Perth results in the junior one being dropped and suspended whilst a kangeroo court holds an enquiry.

Once again proving the ECB/MCC or whatever it is calling itself today is not fit for purpose.

Malan and Bairstow's 237 partnership is now the highest 5th wicket partnership that isn't the highest 5th wicket partnership of the Test in which it was made.

Select some others.

There are better out there than this Rag, Tag and Bobtail mob, with just a few exceptions, who were selected for this tour.
