BA bumps competition winners out of 'Club World' seats
BA bumps competition winners out of 'Club World' seats
They won a competition with Flight Centre but BA had oversold 'Club World' and they got bumped down to Premium Economy. Apparently they were 'guests of BA' so liable to be downgraded with no refund if they refused. BA will 'welcome them' when they fly home but I guess they still couldn't guarantee them seats in Club World!

Legalese aside, and bumping being a general industry practice, this was a public relations own goal from an increasingly shoddy airline. The answer is simple, if you want luxury, either won or paid for, don't fly BA.FD2 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 17, 2018 10:08 amThey won a competition with Flight Centre but BA had oversold 'Club World' and they got bumped down to Premium Economy. Says it all, sadly.

It seems that 'nobody' foresaw the negative effect of demoting these 'winners', assuming that they would be grateful for what they didn't get.
IMO, BA should have downgraded a willing paying passenger with a financial incentive.

Makes a change from bumping the staff with 20 years service off the flight
When all else fails, read the instructions.

Re: BA bumps competition winners out of 'Club World' seats
I was once checking in early for the BA Joburg flight with a Business Class ticket, after 6 weeks in London.
I was offered lottsa £££ and a hotel room for the night if I would delay till tomorrow night.
I choose to go home.
When I told SM how much I'd turned down, she told me I should have taken the money and bought her goodies.
Men cannot win!
